South Western Railway (SWR) General Manager P. Ananth conducted a detailed review of MEMU train operations and infrastructure facilities at the MEMU Shed in Banaswadi, Bengaluru.
During the review meeting, the General Manager assessed the operational aspects of MEMU services, including the number of MEMU train services operated each day, availability of rakes, routes covered by MEMU trains and watering facilities available for the trains.
P. Ananth also reviewed the operational requirements of the Banaswadi MEMU Shed and took stock of the facilities required for the efficient maintenance and smooth operation of MEMU services. The review focused on strengthening operational efficiency and ensuring that the necessary infrastructure and facilities are available to support regular train services.
SWR : Inspection of MEMU Shed Infrastructure
Following the review meeting, the General Manager inspected several important infrastructure facilities at the Banaswadi MEMU Shed. The inspection covered the Inspection Bay, Hump/HL Bay, Administrative Building, watering line and stabling line.
The inspection enabled the General Manager to assess the condition and functioning of these facilities and review their role in supporting the maintenance and operation of MEMU rakes. He also interacted with railway officials and reviewed the operational requirements associated with the shed.
Window Trailing Inspection Between KSR Bengaluru and SMVT Bengaluru
Earlier, P. Ananth conducted a window trailing inspection of the railway section between KSR Bengaluru, Banaswadi and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru.
During the inspection, the General Manager reviewed various operational and safety parameters along the section. He also examined railway infrastructure and passenger amenities to assess the overall condition of the route and facilities available to passengers.
The inspection was aimed at ensuring adherence to safety standards, improving operational efficiency and strengthening passenger facilities along the important Bengaluru railway corridor.

Senior Railway Officials Present
Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru Division, and Shri Parikshith Mohanpuria, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru Division, were present during the inspection and review.
Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Shri Aman Katiyal and other senior railway officers also accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.
The review and inspection form part of South Western Railway’s ongoing efforts to monitor railway operations, strengthen infrastructure and maintenance facilities, enhance safety standards and improve passenger amenities across the Bengaluru railway network.
