Dr.Y.G. Parimala Smt Dr.Y.G. Parimala holds a PhD in Physics from Rayalaseema University, Kurnool, A.P. Previously she completed M.Sc in Physics(Electronics) from Bangalore university, with Second Rankand M.Eng in Engineering Physics from McMaster Unversity, Hamilton, Canada by Thesis Research. Research work for M.Engis on “Ion- implantation studies and characterisation of Fe-doped semi-insluating Indium Phosphide ”. Doctoral research is in an interdisciplinary area involving Physics of Music , which includes audio-signal processing and analysis of musical notes, Scales and various other aspects, timbre studies of musical instruments and computer-based studies of ragas and talas of Indian Classical music using Artificial neural networks. Studies include important research work on an ancient Tamil anthology, Thiruppugazhby Saint Arunagirinathar of 15th Century. Her thesis is titled “Knowledge Discovery and the Physics of Music and Musical Components of Thiruppugazh from Artificial Neural Network perspective”. As a part of her research work towards M.Eng and PhD she has presented over 15 research papers in leading peer-reviewed journals and International Conferences, some of which have won the Best Paper award. She has also chaired an International Conference. She has also completed several Certification courses with distinction including “Corrosion Engineering”(outstanding)IISc, Diploma in Computer Arts, ICCFA, Hyderabad, “C and C++”, NICT, “ Multimedia and 3d Animations, EDIT, “Fun with Vedic Mathematics”, Skills on Biz and participated in several workshops in Electronics. Computer Science, music and physics. She has served initially as a Research Scientist in research Organisations such as ISRO , IIT, Chennai, McMaster University, Canada. She has subsequently worked as Prof inDepartments of Physics and Electronics at reputed academic Institutions under VTU and also PU Board for over 25 years and has been involved in teaching, examination work, organising Seminars, Workshops, competitions, guiding engineering students in project work. She has pursued Carnatic music under eminent Gurus, Sangeetha Kala Acharya Vid.NeelaRamgopal, KalaimamaniDr.SumaSudhindra and completed Vidwath exams of Karnataka Secondary Education Board. She has performed in several music concerts at v arious Sabhas and is a recipient of 'Lalitha Kala Suma” award from Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, Bangalore.She founded the NatanaTarangini School of Music and dance in 2004 and has been imparting training in Vocal and Veena to aspiring students. The school completed its 20 years with more than Students have been completing various exams meritoriously under Karnataka Board, GangubaiHangal University and securing distinctions and awards at various State-level competitions. Several platforms have also been created to nurture the students to perform. Many aspiring students are performing at distinguished Sabhas. She has authored many articles for magazines and newspapers in the form of reviews, interviews with leading personalities in the field of music . She is in the editorial board of Ragadhanasrimagazine.
