NITK Surathkal is set to mark a major milestone in campus sports with the inauguration of “Endeavor”, the annual sports festival of the institute. The two-day event was inaugurated today to promote the institute’s focus on sporting excellence and development.
Endeavor is designed as one of the largest sporting platforms in coastal Karnataka to foster a competitive, vibrant, and inclusive sports ecosystem. It will bring together a diverse group of professional institutions, athletes, sports clubs, associations, and federations from throughout the region and across India. Over 2,000 athletes are expected to participate in the festival, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for the promotion of organized sports within the higher education community.
Prof. B. Ravi, Director at NITK Surathkal, said, “Endeavor serves as a way for the institute to demonstrate its commitment to producing complete individuals by incorporating athletic activity and physical growth into the academic environment. The objectives of this annual festival are to create an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their talents on a national stage, to encourage coordination among different institutions within the community, and to create an overall culture of fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship within the community, both on campus and off.”
The opening ceremony was held at the New Sports Complex (Athletic Track). The Chief Guest of this event was Ms. Shreema Priyadarshini, an International Athlete and Model, and the Guest of Honour was Ms. Saranya Raju, an international taekwondo player. Their presence inspired young competitors the importance of dedication and perseverance in sport.
This two-day event will include competitions in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Swimming, and Volleyball. Both men and women will be able to compete in each sport, providing all competitors with a professionally supported sporting environment that aspires to develop and cultivate positive behaviours of sharpened disciplinary action, teamwork, and achievements of excellence through the latest technologies being used today.
The Valedictory and Closing Ceremony will take place at the New Sports Complex on February 1st, 2026, at 4:00 PM.
In addition to the inter-institutional competitions, NITK Surathkal will also organise an intra-NITK athletics championship for students and staff, including faculty members, to promote fitness and community bonding among all members.
By incorporating Endeavor into its mission statement, the institute is reaffirming its commitment to providing comprehensive education by fostering physical excellence with academic success. It will serve as an annual showcase for the spirit of competition among students through athletics and teamwork.
