An invigorating music festival held recently at Sagara, near Shimoga, took people to an immersive soundscape.
The event Shadvimshah-Rashtreeya Sangeethotsava, was organised by Veda Naada Prathishtana and Sri Sadguru Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Sagara jointly at Sagara. It was a day-night event for three full days featuring Hindustani and Carnatic music concerts by eminent artists from across the globe.
The spectacular event which attracted huge audience of over four thousand, for the entire duration was a great feast both for the ears and the palette! Several reputed artists performed in both genres.
Pandit Ram Deshpande, Vid. Samarth Nagarkar, Vid. Sameer, Vid. Dattatreya Velankar, Vid. Bharathi Pratap, Vid. Smt Vasudha Sharma presented rapturous vocal concerts. An enthralling Bansuri concert was presented by Pandit Prakash Hegde Kallaremane.
Tabla players of repute took part in the event, including Vid. Gururaj Adukala, Dr. UdayKulkarani, Vid. Shouri Shanbagh, Vid. Santosh Hegde. Vid. Nikhil V. Kumsi, Pandit Gurumurthy Vaidya, Pandit Rajendra Nakod.
On the Samvadhini, were the well-known artists like Vid. Ajay Hegde, Vid. Niranjan Hegde, Dr. Gajanan Sambhashith, Dr. Ravindra Katoti, Vid. Neetha Ajay. Vid. RanjanBhevra was on Violin.
On the Carnatic front, were eminent artists like Dr. Patri Satish Kumaron Mridangam, Dr. Suresh Vaidyanathan on ghatam, Vidwan, Sri Bangalore B.Rajsekar on morsing, Vid. Puttur Nikshith on Mridangam. Kanchana sisters- Vid. Kanchana Sriranjini and Vid. Kanchana Shruthi Ranjini presented a vocal concert. Veena concert was by Vid. Y.G. Srilatha Nikshith.
Sadguru Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Sagara was founded by Vid. Smt. Vasudha Sharma, reputed Hindustani Vocalist and her husband Vid. Narasimha Murthy, noted mridangist in 1998.
Apart from concerts and training the students, the couple are dedicated to propagating Classical music at Sagara and surrounding places building a cultural atmosphere. The hard working couple organise annual festival featuring world class artists and also providing a platform for the talented students from their Institution.
During the three-day long event, disciples of the school presented several full-fledged solo and group concerts with a high quality classical music. Many young talents who were show-cased stole the attention of the audience. Highly disciplined and spirited audience at Sagara created a great musical atmosphere and a blissful experience rarely seen in recent times.
