Following the suspension of IndiGo flight services, SpiceJet has also cancelled its operations to and from Shivamogga, dealing another blow to air connectivity in the region. The airline has additionally halted its ticket booking process.
SpiceJet had been operating flights on the Chennai–Shivamogga–Chennai and Hyderabad–Shivamogga–Hyderabad routes. However, services on the Chennai route were stopped from June 1, and those on the Hyderabad route from June 2. Flight operations on both routes have remained completely suspended for the past five days, leading to confusion among passengers.
With the suspension of services, ticket bookings through online platforms and travel agencies have also been discontinued, leaving passengers unable to reserve seats.

Although the Hyderabad route, launched on October 10, 2024, had witnessed good demand, SpiceJet abruptly halted its services without issuing any official clarification. Airport staff have declined to comment on the matter.
Earlier, IndiGo had suspended its Bengaluru–Shivamogga service from May 1, 2026. Despite assurances from public representatives about alternative connectivity, the cancellation of SpiceJet services has further worsened the situation.
At present, Star Air is the only airline operating from Shivamogga Airport, providing connectivity to Hyderabad, Tirupati and Goa with multiple daily flights.
