Kumadvathi Residential Central School (KRCS), Shikaripura, celebrated National Sports Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit on August 29 at its campus.
The celebration was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary Indian hockey player. As part of the programme, a Cross Country Run was organised at 6 a.m. for all residential students.
Students enthusiastically participated in the event, showcasing their physical fitness, endurance, teamwork and competitive spirit.
Shikaripura : Special Assembly Held
A special assembly was later conducted at the school auditorium. The programme began with the garlanding of the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand. Sports equipment was also displayed, while students were briefed on the importance of sports and physical activity in their daily lives.
The winners of the Cross Country Run and other sports activities were honoured with trophies, medals and certificates by the Principal and members of the teaching staff.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted under the guidance of the Physical Education teachers, with the participation of residential staff members.
‘Fitness is Life’: Principal
Addressing the gathering, the Principal highlighted the importance of maintaining physical fitness and encouraged students to actively participate in sports.
“Fitness is Life. Sports builds discipline, leadership and character.”
The Principal congratulated the Physical Education Department and all residential staff members for successfully organising the National Sports Day celebrations.
The programme concluded with a fitness pledge, which was taken collectively by students and staff, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
