The Vigilance Department of South Western Railway (SWR) organized a series of inter-school competitions in Hubballi-Dharwad as part of the Vigilance Awareness Campaign–2026, aimed at creating awareness among students about integrity, transparency, probity and ethical values in public life.
The competitions were organized in line with the directions of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), which observes Vigilance Awareness Week every year to promote awareness about integrity and transparency in public administration through various awareness programmes and preventive vigilance initiatives.
Three-Month Vigilance Awareness Campaign
As part of this year’s campaign, the Central Vigilance Commission has advised organizations to undertake a three-month Vigilance Awareness Campaign from August 17 to November 16, 2026, on the theme ‘Probity for Prosperity’.
In keeping with this theme, the SWR Vigilance Department has undertaken several initiatives to engage school students and encourage them to understand the importance of honesty, transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in society.
The inter-school competitions were specifically designed to provide students with an opportunity to reflect on these values while showcasing their knowledge, creativity and communication skills.
Elocution and Drawing Competitions
An Inter-School Elocution Competition and an Inter-School Drawing Competition were organized on September 17, 2026.
The elocution competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 39 students representing 21 schools. Students expressed their views on various aspects of integrity, ethical conduct and the importance of maintaining transparency and accountability in public life.
The drawing competition saw the participation of 19 students from different schools. Through their artwork, the students presented creative interpretations of integrity, probity and the role of ethical values in building a responsible society.

Kannada Quiz for Government School Students
As part of the campaign, an Inter-School Kannada Quiz Competition was also conducted on September 21, 2026, for students of various Government Kannada Medium Schools in Hubballi.
A total of six teams, with three students representing each of the six participating schools, took part in the quiz competition. The event provided students with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge while engaging with themes related to integrity, transparency and responsible citizenship.
SWR : Encouraging Ethical Values Among Students
The competitions served as an interactive platform for students to express their creativity, knowledge, ideas and perspectives on the importance of integrity and probity in public life.
The initiative also sought to encourage students to appreciate the role of honesty, transparency and ethical behaviour in strengthening public institutions and society at large. By involving school students in awareness activities, the Vigilance Department aimed to foster these values at an early stage and encourage the development of responsible and ethically conscious citizens.
CVO Appreciates Students’ Participation
Shri Manoj Kumar, Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer, South Western Railway, emphasized the importance of probity and integrity in public life. He appreciated the enthusiasm and efforts of all the students who participated in the competitions.
Senior officers of the Vigilance Department of South Western Railway were also present during the events.
The series of inter-school competitions formed an important part of the Vigilance Awareness Campaign–2026, contributing to the broader objective of spreading awareness about integrity, transparency and ethical values among the younger generation.
