Smt. S. Aishwarya and Kum. S. Saundarya, renowned Carnatic vocalists are the great grand daughters of BharatRatna Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi and grand daughters and disciples of Vid. Radha Vishwanathan. They are the torch-bearers of the M.S. Bani and acclaimed as divine duo.
The duo presented a concert recently at Devagiri Venkateswara temple on the occasion of Sri Thyagaraja Punyamahotsava at the beautiful ambience of Sri Devagiri Venkateswara Trust organised by Sri Raghavendra Sangeetha Seva Trust, Bangalore. The trust is doing great service for the cause of performing arts.
The concert was very scintillating and impressive. Blessed with a melodious voice and singing in perfect harmony, the duo have carved themselves a niche on the classical music platforms across the country and outside. Their huge repertoire was evident in their presentation which was rich with many popular compositions bringing back to memory the sublime devotional rendering of Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi amma.
Concert began with a nice presentation of Endaromahanubhavulu, of Saint Thyagaraja, a krithi which is always fresh and enlivening.
Resplendence of Kuntalavaral, a cheerful light raga. was very well brought out in Bhogindra Shayinam of Sri Maharaja Swathi Thirunal, on Lord Padmanabha Swamy who reclines on the serpent ananta in the Ananta forest and prays for his blessings.
Akhilandeswari, a master-piece by Sri Muthuswami Dikshithar in raga Dwijavanthi, in praise of the Goddess of jambukeshwarar temple of Thiruvanaikaval was majestic.
The evergreen Jagadoddharana of Sri Purandaradasaru in Kapi, Bhoshambho of Sri Dayananda saraswathi in raga Revathi were enchanting.
Highlight of the concert was the mellifluous alapana in Simhendramadhyama followed by the lovely composition Ninnenammithinayya of Sri Mysore Vasudevacharya in Mishra chaputala. This was embellished by soothing nerval and swaraprastharam ably complemented by Vid. Adithi Krishna prakash on the violin. An absorbing thaniavarthanam followed, by the much sought after artists, Puttur Nikshith on Mridangam and R. Karthik on Khanjira. They enthralled the over-flowing audience with impressive playing.
The highly promising dedication and devotion of the duo is sure to preserve and carry the great legacy forward to the next generations.
