Melodic alternating flow during raga delineation, very creative approach in rendering compositions or the prowess in nerval and swaraprasthara in higher speeds are their singular forte. Having undergone training under maestros, Professor Neyyattinkara Mohanachandran and Padmabhushan Sri P.S. Narayanaswamy, the borthers Srikrishna Mohan and Ramkumar Mohan, sons of veteran Mridangist Sri VidwanTrishur R. Mohan have set a remarkable standard of their own. The Co-artists were the much sought after star performers Sri. SayeeRakshith on violin, Sri Praveen Sparsh on Mridangam and Sri. Chandrashekhara Sharma on Ghatam who have carved a niche for themselves in the field.
The concert presentation included Thana varnam‘Ninnukori’ of Tacchur Singaarachaari in Vasantha, Aditala, ‘GajavadanaSammoditaVeera’ in raga Thodi, set to AdiTalam, a rarely heard composition of Kumara Ettendra, the popular Ghana raga Pancharatna ‘Sadhinchane’ of Sri Thyagarajar with interesting elaboration of the charana ‘Hare Ramachandra’, lovely delineation of Gambhira Nataifollowed by Sri JayaChamaraja Wadeyar’s famous ‘Sri JalandharamAshrayamyaham’, with crisp swaras, a beautiful composition of Saint Thyagaraja, ‘Sujanajeevana’, in raga Khamas, Rupakatalam, in praise of virtues of Lord Rama, followed by the main presentation’ Sri SathyaNaaraayanam’, in raga ShubhaPantuvarali set to VilambaRupakam, a Krithiby Sri MuthuswamyDikshithar composed on Lord of Badrinath, which was a grandeur beyond words.Raga exposition was out-of-the-world. After a lilting rendering of the Krithi, the higher tempo (durithaKalam) lines chosen for nerval ‘MatsyaKurmaVaraahadidashaavataaraprabhaavam’ were presented in varying speeds and demonstrated the sheer mastery in executing the tempos. Dialogues between the vocalists and the highly talented Sayee Rakshith on violin kept audience awestruck. This was followed by a superb Thaniavartanam by Sri Praveen Sparsh and Sri Chandrashekhara Sharma. The artists concluded the concert with a melodious devaranama of Sri Purandaradasaru ‘Kandudhanyanaade Udupi Krishnana’ in raga Behag and Khandachaputala.
