The week-long International Level Crossing Awareness Week (ILCAD-2026), observed across the Hubballi Division of the South Western Railway from June 3 to 9, concluded successfully with a valedictory programme held on Monday.
The campaign, led by the Senior Divisional Safety Officer (Sr. DSO) along with the Divisional Safety Team, aimed at preventing accidents at railway level crossings through extensive public awareness initiatives.
During the campaign, safety awareness was imparted to around 4,875 members of the public across 35 railway stations and 57 level crossing gates. Awareness banners were prominently displayed at key locations including Dharwad, Gadag, Saunshi Auto Stand, Hosur, Annigeri, Kundagol, Ramanagar Bus Stand, Betageri, Shishuvinahalli, and facilities of Indian Oil Corporation Limited in Hubballi and Indi Pump, among others.

Special outreach programmes were conducted for students and the general public at KLE School, Rayapur; primary and high schools in Shishuvinahalli; and Siddharoodha Math in Hubballi, emphasizing the importance of railway safety.
The valedictory event was held near Level Crossing Gate No. 293, close to Navalur railway station. Addressing the gathering, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations), Shri T.V. Bhushan, urged the public to strictly adhere to safety norms at level crossings. Senior Divisional Safety Officer, Shri Trinetra K.R., highlighted the importance of caution and vigilance while crossing railway tracks.
A street play was also staged as part of the programme to effectively convey safety messages to the public. Officials noted that the campaign played a crucial role in spreading awareness on railway safety and underscored the importance of community participation in preventing accidents.
