Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar today told the Legislative Assembly that the encrochment of Kempambudhi lake would be cleared soon.
Replying to a question raised by BJP MLA Ravi Subramanya in the Legislative Assembly, he said, “A 16-week action plan is prepared as per the directions of the High Court. A survey of Kempambudhi lake is going on and clearing of encroachments will start soon.”
“We have built a diversion canal to prevent garbage from entering the lake through rajakaluve. The leakage from manholes is entering the lake, we have brought this to the attention of BWSSB in order to increase the size of the pipe,” he said.
“A water treatment plant with a capacity of 10 lakh litres is being set up and it will be ready by 2025. The lake will be rejuvenated by filling it with treated water.”
Replying to an attention calling motion from MLA Krishnappa about a narrow stretch of road between Kanakapura Road and Bannerghatta Road, he said, “The land acquisition process is almost nearing completion and it will be widened.”
