Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, visited the steel plant operating under the Ministry of Steel to conduct an inspection in Salem.
As part of his earlier visits to the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant in Bhadravathi, the Vizag Steel Plant, the NMDCL Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh, and the Bhilai Steel Plant, the Union Minister visited the Salem Steel Plant on Monday for an inspection.
Alongside Amarendu Prakash, Chairman of the Steel Authority of India, and senior officials from the Ministry of Steel, the Minister received information about the plant’s operations and steel production from the plant’s President and Managing Director, Suresh Chandra Pandey.

The Salem plant is renowned for manufacturing stainless steel rolls, and during this visit, the Minister personally observed the roll production process. He also visited the section responsible for manufacturing nuts, bolts, and coins.
Detailed discussions with Officials to increase production
Following the plant visit, the Union Minister held a meeting with senior officials. After receiving comprehensive information about the entire plant through presentations, the Minister discussed various challenges and issues faced there. He urged officials to focus on increasing production levels and elaborated on the target of achieving an annual production of 300 million tons of steel, as set by the Prime Minister.
In line with the goal of a developed India by 2047, the Minister assured that everyone must work diligently to achieve the targets established by the Prime Minister and that all necessary resources for the plant will be provided.
