South Western Railway, Mysuru Division successfully conducted the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme on 21.12.2025 across its Railway Hospitals, Health Units and major Railway Stations, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining India’s polio-free status.
The programme was conducted under the overall guidance of Shri Mudit Mittal, Divisional Railway Manager/Mysuru and Shri Ashok Kumar B N, Chief Medical Superintendent/Mysuru. Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) drops were administered to children aged 0–5 years at specially arranged immunization booths to ensure maximum coverage among children of railway employees as well as the general public, irrespective of their previous vaccination status.
Mysuru Area: Immunization was carried out at Railway Hospital/Mysuru, Mysuru Railway Station and Mysuru–Hole Narsipur area. A total of 468 children were vaccinated, comprising 125 railway children and 343 non-railway/general public children.
Sakleshpur Area: At Health Unit/Sakleshpur and Sakleshpur Railway Station, immunization was conducted from 08.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs, during which 61 children were administered OPV drops.
Kabakaputtur Area: The programme covered Health Unit/Kabakaputtur, Kabakaputtur Railway Station, Bantawala and Subrahmanya Road. A total of 114 children were vaccinated, including 09 railway children and 105 non-railway children.
Arsikere Area: Immunization activities were conducted at Health Unit/Arsikere, Arsikere Railway Station, Birur, Tiptur and Hassan, covering 84 children (48 railway and 36 non-railway).
Shivamogga Town Area: Under the jurisdiction of Health Unit/Shivamogga Town, 66 children were administered OPV drops.
Harihar & Chikjajur Area: The programme was successfully conducted under the jurisdiction of Health Units/Harihar and Chikjajur, covering 118 children.
Ashokapuram Health Unit Jurisdiction: The Pulse Polio Immunization Programme was also conducted at Ashokapuram Colony, Chamarajapuram, Kadakola stations, Nanjangud Town station and colony, and Chamarajanagar station. A total of 241 children were administered OPV drops, including 55 railway children and 186 non-railway children.
Across Mysuru Division, a total of 1,152 children were administered Oral Polio Vaccine during the programme.
The programme was conducted smoothly with the active participation of Railway medical staff and volunteers, ensuring easy access to vaccination for passengers, railway employees and nearby residents. South Western Railway remains committed to public health initiatives and continues to actively support national programmes aimed at safeguarding the health of future generations.
