Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways & Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, dedicates Road Over Bridge in lieu of Level Crossing Gate No. 47 at Yelekeri Gate
Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, along with Shri M.B. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, today dedicated the newly constructed Road Over Bridge (ROB) in lieu of Level Crossing Gate No. 47 at Yelekeri Gate, Channapatna. Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Bengaluru Rural, and Shri C.P. Yogeeshwara, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Channapatna, graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri V. Somanna said that the new ROB will save time, reduce traffic congestion, and improve safety for both road users and train operations. He also stated that quadrupling of the Mysuru–Bengaluru railway line is extremely essential to ease congestion and provide smooth and convenient travel for the public.

The Minister said that Indian Railways is the growth engine of the nation and that infrastructure development is the key driver of economic growth. He added that the proposed new mega coaching terminal at Yelahanka, along with projects such as quadrupling of railway lines and increasing train speeds, will help ease transit and improve passenger mobility.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri M.B. Patil said that the State Government and the Central Government have jointly taken up nine railway projects on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis. He stated that land acquisition for these projects is progressing well, with the majority of the required land already acquired. He thanked Shri V. Somanna for responding promptly to requests for railway development projects in the State and urged the Minister to implement a high-speed rail project between Bengaluru and Pune.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. C.N. Manjunath thanked Shri V. Somanna for acting swiftly whenever requests for new developmental works were made. He also appreciated the MEMU train services between Channapatna and KSR Bengaluru, as well as the construction of the Road Over Bridge in lieu of Level Crossing Gate No. 47 at Yelekeri Gate, Channapatna.
A Road Over Bridge has been constructed here at an approximate cost of ₹22.40 crore. The ROB connects JC Road on the Channapatna side with Anjaneya Temple Road on the Yelekeri side. The construction of this Road Over Bridge has led to the elimination of Level Crossing Gate No. 47, resulting in smoother vehicular movement, reduced traffic congestion, and enhanced safety for both rail and road users.
Earlier in the day, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways inspected the ongoing construction works of the Road Under Bridge at Ramohalli Gate in lieu of Level Crossing No. 16 and instructed officials to expedite the work.
Shri Abhay Kumar Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer/Construction, Shri Praveen Kataraki, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
