South Western Railway Medical Department observed National Doctors’ Day – 2026 with various programmes aimed at recognising the dedicated services of doctors and promoting healthcare awareness.
At the Central Hospital, Hubballi, Dr. Sobha Jasmine S., Principal Chief Medical Director (PCMD), South Western Railway, interacted with doctors and appreciated their dedicated service to railway healthcare. Senior doctors were felicitated and the Physician’s Pledge was administered, reaffirming their commitment to ethical and compassionate medical practice. Retired railway employees also participated in the celebrations and conveyed their best wishes to the doctors.
As part of the observance, Divisional Railway Hospital, Bengaluru, organised a health check-up and awareness programme for nearly 50 housekeeping staff, including screening for hypertension, diabetes and HIV. A General Health Camp was also conducted by Health Unit/Kabakaputtur at Subrahmanya Road Station, where screening for hypertension, diabetes and obesity was carried out and treatment for minor ailments was provided.

The Medical Department also organised a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Programme for officers and supervisors of the Carriage Workshop, Hubballi. The programme included a live demonstration on Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR, covering essential life-saving techniques and emergency response procedures. Officers, supervisors and staff enthusiastically participated in the hands-on training session.
