A man who had come for timber cutting work and was residing in a rented house at Sonale village under Hosanagara police station limits in Shivamogga district was allegedly murdered following a personal dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Parashurama Ramappa Lamani. According to the complaint, his co-residents—Accused No.1 Parashurama Shettappa Tamburi and Accused No.2 Arun Punnappa Lamani, both residents of Ichanahalli Tanda, Devikoppa Post, Kalaghatagi Taluk in Dharwad district—picked up a quarrel over a personal matter and later murdered him.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Hosanagara Police Station under Crime No. 77/2026, invoking Section 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and investigation was taken up.

Under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Police, Shivamogga district, and as per the directions of DySP Aravinda Kalagunjji of Thirthahalli Sub-Division, a team led by Circle Inspector M.I. Gowdappagowdra, along with PSI Shankaragouda Patil and staff members—Giriprasad, Shivakumar Nayak, Sandeep Y.S., Umesh, Mayappa Gokavi, Sunil Gowdur, Gopalakrishna, Sadananda Nayak and Sampath Kumar—swiftly acted and traced the accused within a few hours of the case being registered.
The accused, Parashurama Shettappa Tamburi (27) and Arun Punnappa Lamani (34), both daily wage labourers belonging to the Lambani community and residents of Ichanahalli Tanda, have been arrested and produced before the court.
The court has remanded both the accused to judicial custody, police said.
