ಯುವ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಜೈ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್ ಅವರು ಪೋರ್ಚುಗಲ್ನ ‘ಗಾರ್ಡಾ ಎಫ್ಸಿ’ (Guarda FC) ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ನ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಷೇರುಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಕ್ಲಬ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕಾರಿ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ (Executive Vice-President) ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೇವಲ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ತೋರುವುದಲ್ಲದೆ, ವಿದೇಶಿ ಕ್ಲಬ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ಯರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕ್ಲಬ್ನ ಹೊಸ ಮಾಲೀಕತ್ವದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಜೈ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ‘ಗಾರ್ಡಾ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ – ಎಸ್ಎಡಿ’ (Guarda FC – SAD) ಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಾಹಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ (CEO) ನೇಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪೋರ್ಚುಗಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಲಬ್ನ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಈಡೇರಿಸಲು ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಯತಂತ್ರದ ಪಾಲುದಾರರಾಗಿ (Strategic Partner) ಈ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಜೈ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್, “ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ಒಂದು ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಹೊಂದಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ನನ್ನ ಬಹುಕಾಲದ ಕನಸಾಗಿತ್ತು. ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕ್ಲಬ್ಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬೀಳುವ ಬದಲು, ನಾನೇ ಸ್ವತಃ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ತರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿರುವ ಉತ್ತಮ ಪ್ರಾಜೆಕ್ಟ್ ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ; ಅದು ಗಾರ್ಡಾ ಎಫ್ಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು. ಏಷ್ಯಾದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ಯುವ ಆಟಗಾರರಿಗೆ ಯುರೋಪಿಯನ್ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಅನುಭವ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಅನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವುದು ನನ್ನ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಭಾರತ ಮತ್ತು ಯುರೋಪ್ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ” ಎಂದರು.
ಗಾರ್ಡಾ ಎಫ್ಸಿ ಎಸ್ಎಡಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಗ್ಯಾಬ್ರಿಯಲ್ ಕ್ಯಾಲ್ಡಿಯೆರಾ ಅಲ್ವೆಸ್ (Gabriel Caldiera Alves) ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ಜೈ ಅವರನ್ನು ಗಾರ್ಡಾ ಎಫ್ಸಿ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಲು ನಮಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಮೊದಲ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆಯಿಂದಲೇ, ಯುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ಗುರುತು ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಅನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರೂ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಯಿತು. ಅವರ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನ, ಉದ್ಯಮಶೀಲತೆಯ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಮತ್ತು ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲೀನ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯು ಕ್ಲಬ್ಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಆಯಾಮವನ್ನು ತಂದಿದೆ. ಗಾರ್ಡಾ ಎಫ್ಸಿಯ ಈ ಹೊಸ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಆರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ಸುಕರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದರು.
ಸದ್ಯ ಲಾಲಿಗಾ ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ (LaLiga Business School) ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಮಾರ್ಕೆಟಿಂಗ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಪದವಿ (Master’s) ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಜೈ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್, ಕಳೆದ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಯುರೋಪಿಯನ್ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ರಚನೆಗಳು, ಆಟಗಾರರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರದಿಂದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಯುರೋಪ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಭಾಗಗಳ ಆಟಗಾರರನ್ನು ಪೋರ್ಚುಗಲ್ನ ಈ ಸುಂದರ ಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆಯಲು, ಆಡಲು ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಮಾದರಿಯನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲು ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಆಶಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Jai Agarwal Appointed CEO of Portugal’s Guarda FC
Young entrepreneur Jai Agarwal has acquired a majority stake in Portugal-based football club Guarda FC and has taken charge as its Executive Vice-President. With the investment, Agarwal has moved beyond his passion for football to become an active stakeholder in a European football club.
Under the club’s new ownership structure, Agarwal has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Guarda Futebol Clube – SAD. He will serve as a strategic partner, focusing on the club’s sporting and commercial growth in Portugal while helping drive its international ambitions.
Speaking about his new role, Agarwal said owning a football club had been a long-standing dream.
“Owning my own football club has been a dream of mine for a long time. Rather than chasing after the biggest clubs, I was looking for a strong project where I could personally make a difference, and I found that opportunity at Guarda FC. My goal is to provide talented young players from Asia with exposure to European football and build the club into a successful organisation. I believe this can be a meaningful step towards strengthening the connection between Indian and European football,” he said.
Guarda FC SAD President Gabriel Caldiera Alves welcomed Agarwal to the club and said both sides shared a common vision for developing young talent while preserving the club’s identity and commitment to the local community.

From our very first conversations, it became clear that he shares our ambition to develop young talent and build a club that maintains its own identity and commitment to the local community. Agarwal is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Sports Marketing at LaLiga Business School. Over the past few years, he has closely studied European football structures, player development systems and club operations.
He plans to use this experience to develop a sustainable growth model for Guarda FC in Europe. His vision also includes encouraging players from different parts of the world to travel to this scenic region of Portugal to train, compete and further develop their footballing skills.
The investment and leadership transition mark a new chapter for Guarda FC, with the club aiming to combine local identity and youth development with a broader international football vision.
