A practical training programme on Fire Safety and Emergency Management was organised for railway officers and staff at the premises of the (swr) Divisional Railway Manager’s Office in Hubballi.
The training programme was aimed at enhancing awareness among railway personnel about fire prevention measures, workplace safety protocols and the appropriate response to emergency situations. Officials and staff were provided with practical guidance on how to prevent fire-related incidents and respond effectively in the event of an emergency.
Personnel from the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services (KSF&ES) Department conducted the training and explained various precautionary measures that need to be followed at workplaces to minimise the risk of fire accidents. The officials highlighted the importance of maintaining safety standards, identifying potential fire hazards and taking timely preventive measures.
A key focus of the programme was on emergency evacuation procedures. The participants were briefed on how to safely evacuate a building during a fire or other emergency, identify designated evacuation routes and exits, and assist others in moving to a safe location without causing panic or confusion.

swr : A practical mock Demonstration
A practical mock demonstration was also conducted to familiarise railway personnel with the appropriate response during a fire emergency. Through the demonstration, participants were shown how to remain calm, assess the situation and act quickly and effectively instead of panicking.
The training also included a demonstration of different types of fire-fighting equipment and fire extinguishers used to tackle various categories of fires. Participants were given practical guidance on selecting the appropriate equipment and using it correctly and safely during the initial stages of a fire.
The programme emphasised that timely action and proper knowledge of fire safety procedures can help prevent minor incidents from developing into major emergencies. Regular training and awareness programmes are therefore essential to ensure that railway personnel are prepared to respond efficiently to unforeseen situations.
The training programme was attended by Smt. Bela Meena, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi, along with senior railway officials and staff members. The programme served as an important initiative to strengthen fire-safety awareness and emergency preparedness among railway personnel in the Hubballi Division.
