KREDL’s efforts during Energy Conservation Week aim to raise awareness about reducing energy consumption, promoting efficient energy use, and fostering sustainable practices in Karnataka. The initiative forms a crucial part of India’s broader mission to address the pressing challenges of environmental degradation and climate change.
Energy Minister, Mr. K.J. George, stated, “Through the National Energy Conservation Week activities, including walkathons and competitions, the energy department aims to raise widespread awareness about the critical importance of energy conservation and efficiency, inspiring collective action to preserve our natural resources for future generations.”
“Climate change stands as one of the most pressing challenges of our era. Energy conservation is a shared responsibility that profoundly affects our ecosystem, economy, and livelihood. This week serves as a reminder and a call to action to address this critical obligation, said Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Energy. Further, emphasizing the importance of localized solutions, he called upon organizations and departments to develop tailored action plans that reflect their specific conditions to ensure the effective implementation of energy conservation measures through creating awareness among the public.
Mr. K.P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director, KREDL, underscored the need to build a statewide movement to address critical challenges such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, deforestation, and pollution. Further, he stated that Energy Conservation week is being observed in schools and colleges throughout the state by organising essay and debate/quiz competition for students, respectively.
