Bengaluru is now at the forefront on a global scale. The emerging KWIN City (Knowledge, Wellbeing and Innovation) is set to be of world-class standards, with a special focus on the medical and healthcare sectors. The implementation of such projects will not only provide better services to the people but also boost economic activities in the state, said Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, and Livelihood.
On the second day of the Global Investors’ Meet (Invest Karnataka) held at Bengaluru Palace, the minister participated in the roundtable discussion on “KWINCity and the Healthcare Sector” on Wednesday.
Spanning 5,800 acres near Bengaluru, KWIN City will emerge as a hub for medical innovation. It aims to attract investments in research and development related to pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and medical technology. This, in turn, will contribute to the overall progress of the state, the minister noted.
22% Annual Growth Rate
Due to the growing population and increasing demand for healthcare, Karnataka’s healthcare market is expanding at an annual growth rate of 22%, Patil stated.
KWIN City is set to become a gateway for medical tourism. Karnataka has already successfully treated numerous international patients, and this initiative will further strengthen that aspect, the minister added.
Major projects can only be implemented when there is strong political will. With our government’s favorable policies and incentives, investment and development in the healthcare sector can progress rapidly, said Sharan Prakash Patil.
KWIN City presents a unique opportunity to develop world-class healthcare services. Located 50 km from Bengaluru, it will house biotech and pharma industries, leading hospitals, and other enterprises, further boosting the economy while providing advanced healthcare facilities for the people, the minister explained.
Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, ministers MB Patil, Priyank Kharge, Dinesh Gundurao, NS Boseraju, senior officials S Selva Kumar, Ekroop Caur, Gunjan Krishna and industry leaders participated in the discussion.
