Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, today inaugurated three Road Under Bridges (RUBs) at Bandihalli Gate, Donnere Gate and Badenahalli Gate in Tumakuru district, eliminating Level Crossing Nos. 60, 61 and 64.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that people will no longer have to wait at railway gates. The new RUBs will save time, reduce traffic congestion and improve safety for both road users and trains.
He informed that out of 31 ROBs and RUBs projects for the region, works of 27 projects are progressing well and the remaining 4 works will be taken up soon and said that all are expected to be completed by December 2026. He assured that proper lighting arrangements will be provided at all the RUBs for the safety and convenience of the public.
The Minister also said that railway development works worth about ₹52,000 crore are currently ongoing across Karnataka.
Earlier in the day, he inspected the Road Over Bridges at Biderugudi/Honnavalli and Sharda Nagar in lieu of LC Nos. 88 and 86 respectively. He also inspected the ongoing ROB works at LC No. 58 (Nittur–Mysuru Gate) and LC No. 59 (Nandihalli Gate). In addition, he inspected the Light Road Over Bridge at Gubbi Railway Station, which is being constructed at an approximate cost of ₹17.48 crore.
The RUB at Bandihalli Gate has been constructed at a cost of ₹10.5 crore. The works at Bandenahalli Gate and Donnere Gate have been completed at costs of ₹6.5 crore and ₹5.5 crore respectively.
The Minister said that Railways is witnessing a new phase of development, with many pending works being completed. He added that the proposed Tumakuru–Bengaluru quadrupling project will greatly benefit the people of Tumakuru by improving rail connectivity and increasing capacity.
Shri Praveen Karataki, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Shri Rajeev Sharma, Sr. Divisional Engineer/Co-ordinatio̧nShri Krishna Chaitanya, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, and other senior railway officers were present on the occasion.
