A quick decision, timely treatment, and the expertise of doctors came together to save a precious life.
A one-and-a-half-year-old toddler accidentally swallowed a large metal safety pin while playing. Initially, the child showed no symptoms such as vomiting, fever, or abdominal distension. However, the child had not passed motion, which raised concern for the parents.
The family, who reside in Puttaparthi, brought the child to Medicover Hospital, Whitefield, Bengaluru the next day for evaluation and treatment.

Following the procedure, Dr. Anurag Mahagaonkar, Consultant Pediatrician, continued further care to ensure the child’s complete recovery. Dr. Monika Gupta, Consultant Anesthesiologist, also played a crucial role in the safe execution of the procedure.

– Do not wait for symptoms like vomiting to appear if a child swallows any object.
– Do not delay by giving bananas or waiting for the child to pass motion.
– Rush immediately to the nearest hospital for evaluation and management.
Doctors emphasize that in cases involving children, any delay or negligence can lead to serious complications. Immediate medical attention can prevent life-threatening situations.
