A quick decision, timely treatment, and the expertise of doctors came together to save a precious life.
A one-and-a-half-year-old toddler accidentally swallowed a large metal safety pin while playing. Initially, the child showed no symptoms such as vomiting, fever, or abdominal distension. However, the child had not passed motion, which raised concern for the parents.
The family, who reside in Puttaparthi, brought the child to Medicover Hospital, Whitefield, Bengaluru the next day for evaluation and treatment.
The emergency team immediately began care, and Dr. Rohit Maidur, Consultant Gastroenterologist, conducted an X-ray which confirmed the presence of the pin in the gastrointestinal tract. He successfully performed an endoscopic procedure and safely retrieved the swallowed pin.
Following the procedure, Dr. Anurag Mahagaonkar, Consultant Pediatrician, continued further care to ensure the child’s complete recovery. Dr. Monika Gupta, Consultant Anesthesiologist, also played a crucial role in the safe execution of the procedure.
Doctors Issue Important Safety Advice to Parents: Dr. Rohit Maidur and Dr. Anurag Mahagaonkar from Medicover Hospital shared vital safety tips for parents
