Indian Railways continues its transformative journey with a strong focus on modernization and global standards. As part of this vision, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will virtually inaugurate 75 redeveloped railway stations across India on 17th July 2026 under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

Among these, four key stations in Karnataka—Alnavar (₹17.2 crore), Badami (₹15.10 crore), Bantawal (₹26.18 crore), and Koppal (₹21.14 crore)—have been comprehensively upgraded with modern infrastructure and passenger-centric amenities.

Progress Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

The redevelopment initiative is part of a larger national effort launched in 2023–24, during which foundation stones were laid for over 1,000 railway stations across the country.

Karnataka has already witnessed significant progress, with five stations—Gadag, Dharwad, Gokak Road, Munirabad, and Bagalkot—successfully inaugurated in May 2025, marking steady advancement under the scheme.

Modern Infrastructure with Regional Identity

The newly redeveloped stations feature:

  • Expanded station buildings with improved passenger flow
  • Aesthetic façades reflecting regional culture and architecture
  • Enhanced circulating areas for smoother movement

These upgrades ensure a balance between modern design and local heritage, creating visually appealing and functional spaces.

Smart and Digital Features
