The management and students of the Mysore Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary (MIHMC), affiliated to the University of Mysore, took part in the ongoing Tree Census initiative being conducted in the city by the Gandaberunda Foundation of Rajakumari Trishika Kumari, in association with CFAL and MGP.
The students participated in the drive under the leadership of Director Ms. Arpitha D.V. and Principal Mr. Victor Hemanth Kumar. Chief Chef Mr. Satish was also present during the programme. Under the guidance of experts, the students carried out the tree census and systematically recorded details as part of the data collection process.
Addressing the participants, Director Ms. Arpitha D.V. said that protecting Mysuru’s sustainable environment is the collective responsibility of everyone. She emphasised that students must develop environmental awareness from a young age.
“Protection of trees is essential for maintaining environmental balance. Mysuru is known for its heritage trees. Where there are trees, there is no drought. Trees can help mitigate climate change,” she said.
