In a remarkable act of honesty and prompt action, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Western Railway, Mysuru Division, successfully recovered and returned a vanity bag containing gold ornaments and electronic items worth ₹1,49,465/- to a lady passenger.
On 21st May 2025, Smt. Teja, a resident of Kadur, accidentally left her bag on Train No. 16589 while deboarding at Kadur Railway Station. Upon receiving a RailMadad complaint, the RPF escort team immediately launched an onboard search and located the bag, which was handed over to the RPF Post at Davangere.
After due verification, the belongings including 15 grams of gold jewellery and two iPhone chargers were returned to the rightful owner on 22nd May 2025.
Senior Divisional Commissioner, RPF Mysuru, Sri Sam Prasanth J.R., praised the team’s efforts under Operation “AMANAT,” a special drive to return lost items to passengers. He also noted that during FY 2024–25, RPF personnel returned lost luggage on 197 occasions, with recovered items worth ₹52.62 lakhs.
The passenger expressed heartfelt gratitude to the RPF for their integrity and swift response.
