Shivamogga: Vice Chancellor of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University Dr. H.D. Narayanaswamy, said that, the veterinarians to work hard to alleviate suffering of bovines which are one of the important wealth of our nation.
speaking at two days international workshop on advances in diagnosis and treatment of ruminal disorders of bovines said, ruminants do contribute to a greater extent to the GDP by improving their health care.
He further added, the workshop is well designed to learn different abdominal surgical procedures and advanced diagnostic techniques in cattle and buffaloes which builds a confidence in field veterinarian’s in performing surgeries at village level which will fulfill the motto of the university “Farmers Friendly and Rural Oriented”.
Dr.K.C. Veeranna, Registrar, KVAFSU, Bidar said that, ruminal acidity becoming more common in ruminants now a days resulting in limping and decreased milk yield. Urged Veterianarins to address this problem efficiently.
Chief Guest Dr. Abdul Rahman, Executive Director ‘Commonwealth Veterinary Association’ informed similar workshops are being conducted across the country and assured still more workshops to be held at Veterinary College Shivamogga in coming days.
Dr. S Yathiraj, President, Indian Buitracians Association advised the veterinarians to serve ruminant animals by implementing these advanced skills in the field level.
Dr Prakash Nadoor, Dean, Veterinary College Shivamogga in his presidential remarks, informed that ruminants are the great wealth of Nation and encouraged veterinarians to adopt advanced skills to treat ruminants as they are very much important in doubling the rural farmers income.
International expert resource persons Dr. Natasha Lees and Dr.Mark Booth from Australia trained the veterinarians.
Simultaneously Workshop on ‘Rabies Diagnosis in Animals’ was also held.
Organizing Secretaries Dr. N.B. Shridhar and Dr. Srikrishna Isloor, Co-oganizing Secretaries Captain Dr.Ravi Raidurg and Dr.Arun S.J. conducted workshop. Dr. Jayashree thanked the gathering.
