At least seven people were killed and over 35 others injured in a horrific road accident that occurred late Tuesday night near Uva village in Bardoli taluk of Surat district, Gujarat.
The accident involved a head-on collision between two buses belonging to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). According to preliminary reports, a tanker moving along the highway suddenly overturned. In an attempt to avoid crashing into the tanker, the driver of one of the buses lost control of the vehicle.
As a result, the bus crossed the road divider and collided head-on with another bus coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision caused one of the buses to overturn.

The situation worsened when the overturned bus, which was running on CNG, caught fire due to a gas leak immediately after the crash. Within minutes, the flames engulfed the entire bus, trapping several passengers inside. While a few managed to escape by jumping out of the windows, many others suffered severe burn injuries.
Local residents rushed to the scene to assist in rescue operations. Fire and police personnel later arrived and brought the blaze under control after sustained efforts. The injured were immediately shifted to various hospitals in Surat, with some reported to be in critical condition.
The accident led to massive traffic congestion on the highway, with vehicles stranded for several kilometers. Police diverted traffic to alternate routes and have registered a case. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
