In a remarkable turn of events, two doctors from Medicover Hospital turned saviors for an Uber driver who suffered a epilepsy while driving, preventing a major accident and saving his life.
Earlier this morning, Dr. Ravindra Puttaswamy, Senior Orthopedic Surgeon, and Dr. Rajaselvarajan, Senior Consultant #Physician at Medicover Hospital, were commuting to work in an Uber. Around 9:30 AM, as they engaged in casual conversation with the driver, they noticed a sudden change in his behavior. The driver stopped responding and lost control of the vehicle. Within moments, the car swerved off course, collided with a parked vehicle, and then hit a streetlight pole before coming to a halt.Recognizing the emergency, Dr. Ravindra Puttaswamy, seated in the back, swiftly applied the handbrake, preventing further mishaps. Fortunately, no pedestrians or other commuters were harmed. However, the driver had already started foaming at the mouth and had completely lost consciousness.
Without wasting a second, Dr. Rajaselvarajan and Dr. Ravindra Puttaswamy acted promptly, moving the driver to a safer position in the car and administering first aid on the spot. Their timely intervention prevented the situation from worsening. After stabilizing the driver, they also provided medical guidance on necessary medication and further treatment.Once the driver showed signs of recovery, the doctors arranged another cab for him and even handed him some money to ensure he could reach home safely.
This incident highlights not only the unpredictable nature of medical emergencies but also the invaluable role of medical professionals, even beyond hospital premises. The presence of these two doctors at the right place and time proved to be life-saving, reinforcing the saying that doctors are indeed second to God.
