ಗಾಯಕರಿಗೆ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಗಡಿ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಸ್. ಜಾನಕಿ (S. Janaki) ಅವರೇ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಉದಾಹರಣೆ. ಸುಮಾರು 17 ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಧುರವಾಗಿ ಹಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾನಗಂಧರ್ವೆಯಾಗಿ ಚಿರಸ್ಥಾಯಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಅವರ ಗಾನ ಮಾಧುರ್ಯ ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸುಗಮ ಸಂಗೀತ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಸೊರಬ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಗುರುಮೂರ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಸೋಮವಾರ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಗಮ ಸಂಗೀತ ಪರಿಷತ್, ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್, ಹೆಲ್ಪಿಂಗ್ ಹ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಘ-ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸಂಯುಕ್ತ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾವಪೂರ್ಣ ನುಡಿ ನಮನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

ಸಂಗೀತ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಗಿಲೆ ಕಂಠದ ಮಂತ್ರಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಕೋಟ್ಯಂತರ ಸಂಗೀತಾಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳ ಹೃದಯ ಗೆದ್ದಿದ್ದ ಸ್ವರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಞೆ ಎಸ್. ಜಾನಕಿ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಗೀತೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದ ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು 48 ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿ ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್ ದಾಖಲೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಯುಗಾದಿ ಬಂದರೆ ಅವರ ಧ್ವನಿಯೇ ನೆನಪಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಯುಗ ಯುಗಗಳಾದರೂ ಅವರ ಹಾಡುಗಳು ಸಂಗೀತಾಸಕ್ತರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಳಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತವೆ. ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಗಾಯಕಿಯಾಗಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಬಾರಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ನೂರಾರು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರೂ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ನಿರಹಂಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಬದುಕಿದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ಅವರದು. ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದರೂ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡಿನ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಅವರ ಅಪಾರ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸದಾ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಪೂರ್ಣಿಮಾ ಭಾವೆ, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಮುರಳಿಧರ, ಕಾವ್ಯಶ್ರೀ ಭಾವೆ, ರೂಪ ಮಧುಕೇಶ್ವರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಮಾ ಅರುಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಎಸ್. ಜಾನಕಿ ಅವರ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಾಯನ ಮೂಲಕ ಭಾವಪೂರ್ಣ ಸಂಗೀತ ನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ಗಾಯನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರೆದಿದ್ದ ಸಂಗೀತಾಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಭಾವುಕರನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿತು.
ಬಳಿಕ ಎಸ್. ಜಾನಕಿ ಅವರ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಪುಷ್ಪನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಮೌನಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಸುಗಮ ಸಂಗೀತ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕ ಎಚ್. ವೀರಪ್ಪ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಾದ ಸಂದೀಪ್ ರಾಯ್ಕರ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ. ಜ್ಞಾನೇಶ್, ನಾಗರಾಜ ಗುತ್ತಿ, ರಾಜು ಹಿರಿಯವಲಿ, ಪಾಣಿರಾಜಪ್ಪ, ನಟರಾಜ ಉಪ್ಪಿನ್, ಮಧುರಾಯ್ ಶೇಟ್, ಮೋಹನ್ ಸುರಭಿ, ವಸಂತ ಬಾಂಬೊರೆ, ಮೂಡಿ ವಿಜಯಕುಮಾರ್, ಮಹೇಶ್ ಖಾರ್ವಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಾಸಕ್ತರು, ಸಂಗೀತಾಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳು, ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಘ-ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
Tribute Paid to Legendary Singer S. Janaki; Music Lovers Offer Emotional Homage
“S. Janaki is the finest example that music knows no language barriers. By singing melodiously in around 17 languages, she has remained immortal in the hearts of millions as a divine voice. Though she is no longer with us today, her musical legacy will live on forever,” said Gurumurthy, President of Sugama Sangeetha Parishat, Soraba.
He was speaking while presiding over a heartfelt tribute program organized on Monday at Sri Swami Vivekananda High School in the town. The event was jointly hosted by Sugama Sangeetha Parishat, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Helping Hand, and several other organizations.
S. Janaki sang over 48,000 songs
Remembering the legendary singer, he said S. Janaki, often hailed as the “Nightingale of Music,” captivated millions of music lovers worldwide with her magical voice. She sang over 48,000 songs in multiple languages, earning recognition in the Guinness records. Through her songs, she played a significant role in popularizing the Kannada language across the country. “Her voice is especially remembered during the festival of Ugadi,” he added.
He further noted that her songs will continue to resonate in the hearts of music enthusiasts for generations. Despite receiving numerous accolades, including four National Awards, she remained a humble personality. Though born in Andhra Pradesh, her deep affection for Karnataka will always be remembered, he said.
On the occasion, Poornima Bhave, Lakshmi Muralidhar, Kavyashree Bhave, Roopa Madhukeshwara, and Suma Arun Kumar presented popular songs of S. Janaki, offering a soulful musical tribute. Their performances moved the audience emotionally.
Later, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of S. Janaki, followed by a moment of silence in her remembrance.
H. Veerappa, Secretary of Sugama Sangeetha Parishat and a teacher, compered the program. Sandeep Raikar, Headmaster of Sri Swami Vivekananda High School, extended support for the event.
Several dignitaries and attendees, including Dr. Jnanesh, Nagaraj Gutti, Raju Hiriyavali, Panirajappa, Nataraj Uppin, Madhuraya Shet, Mohan Surabhi, Vasantha Bambore, Mudi Vijayakumar, Mahesh Kharvi, along with literature enthusiasts, music lovers, office bearers of various organizations, and members of the public, were present.
