Indian Railways continues its transformative journey with a strong focus on modernization and global standards. As part of this vision, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will virtually inaugurate 75 redeveloped railway stations across India on 17th July 2026 under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
Among these, four key stations in Karnataka—Alnavar (₹17.2 crore), Badami (₹15.10 crore), Bantawal (₹26.18 crore), and Koppal (₹21.14 crore)—have been comprehensively upgraded with modern infrastructure and passenger-centric amenities.
Progress Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
The redevelopment initiative is part of a larger national effort launched in 2023–24, during which foundation stones were laid for over 1,000 railway stations across the country.
Karnataka has already witnessed significant progress, with five stations—Gadag, Dharwad, Gokak Road, Munirabad, and Bagalkot—successfully inaugurated in May 2025, marking steady advancement under the scheme.
Modern Infrastructure with Regional Identity
The newly redeveloped stations feature:
- Expanded station buildings with improved passenger flow
- Aesthetic façades reflecting regional culture and architecture
- Enhanced circulating areas for smoother movement
These upgrades ensure a balance between modern design and local heritage, creating visually appealing and functional spaces.

Improved Connectivity and Passenger Movement
Passenger convenience has been significantly enhanced through:
- New platform shelters
- A 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge at Alnavar, Koppal, and Badami
- Passenger lifts at all stations
- Two escalators at Koppal station
These improvements enable smooth and hassle-free movement across platforms.

The stations now offer a wide range of modern amenities, including:
- Air-conditioned waiting halls
- Dedicated ladies’ waiting rooms with baby feeding spaces
- Upgraded restroom facilities
- Improved drinking water systems
Additionally, organized parking areas and dedicated auto stands ensure seamless last-mile connectivity.
Smart and Digital Features
To align with global standards, the stations are equipped with:
- LED coach indication boards
- Digital train display systems
- CCTV surveillance
- Advanced public announcement systems
- Free Wi-Fi and mobile charging points
These features contribute to a smart, connected, and passenger-friendly environment.
Passenger convenience has been further enhanced through the provision of new platform shelters, improved circulating areas, and a 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge at Alnavar, Koppal, Badami. Stations are also equipped with passenger lifts at all stations and 2 escalators at Koppal, ensuring ease of movement for all passengers.
