ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಲಿ ಪಂದ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ FIFA ASEAN CUPನಿಂದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸರಿದಿದೆ. ಈ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವನ್ನು ಬುಧವಾರ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಫೆಡರೇಷನ್ (AIFF) ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ್ ಚೌಬೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ ಫೆಡರೇಷನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿನ ನಮ್ಮ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ FIFA ASEAN ಕಪ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 21ರಿಂದ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 6ರವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಂಡೋದಲ್ಲಿ ಗರಿಷ್ಠ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಂದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಆಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯೂ ಇದೆ. ಈ ನಿರ್ಧಾರದ ಕಾರಣವನ್ನು FIFAಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ್ ಚೌಬೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಆಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಅಪರೂಪ
ಕಳೆದ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಂಗಾಪುರ ಮತ್ತು ಮಲೇಷ್ಯಾ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಭಾರತ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಬಾರಿ ಆಡಿದೆ. ASEAN ಕಪ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಎರಡೂ ತಂಡಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತೆ ಆಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಗಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ನಂತಹ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ತಂಡದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಆಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಆಟಗಾರರಿಗೆ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಿಗಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಚೌಬೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಪಂದ್ಯ ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್ಗೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಬಹುದು. ASEAN ಕಪ್ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಟೂರ್ನಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಅದನ್ನು ನಾವು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ FIFA ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಂಡೋವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಭಾರತಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ರ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ತಂಡಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಇನ್ನೆರಡು ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಲಿ ಪಂದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಕಠಿಣ ಪಂದ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ನಾವು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಲಿಯಬಹುದು” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ASEAN ಕಪ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಗುಂಪು
ಮೊದಲ FIFA ASEAN ಕಪ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿಥಿ ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆತಿಥೇಯ ಇಂಡೋನೇಷ್ಯಾ, ಮಲೇಷ್ಯಾ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಂಗಾಪುರ ತಂಡಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 21ರಿಂದ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 6ರವರೆಗೆ ಟೂರ್ನಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದ್ದು, ಇದೇ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 3ರಂದು ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಲಿ ಪಂದ್ಯ ಆಡಲಿದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಬ್ರೆಜಿಲ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಪಂದ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಿ ASEAN ಕಪ್ನಿಂದ ಭಾರತ ಹೊರಬಂದಿದೆ.
India Withdraws From FIFA ASEAN Cup to Face Brazil in Kolkata
Kolkata: India have withdrawn from the FIFA ASEAN Cup due to a clash with their much-anticipated friendly against Brazil. The decision was taken on Wednesday, All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey said.
“We are unable to participate in the FIFA ASEAN Cup due to our commitment with the Brazil Football Federation. There were technical issues too, since only four games can be played during the international window from September 21 to October 6. We have informed FIFA, and officials are aware of why we were forced to take this decision,” Chaubey said.
“We will make the best use of this FIFA international window by playing quality opponents ranked higher than India.”
Brazil Opportunity Rare for Indian Players
Chaubey pointed out that India have already played Singapore and Malaysia four times over the last three years and could get more opportunities to face them in the future.
However, playing against a team like Brazil is a rare opportunity for Indian footballers and could potentially happen only once in a lifetime, he said.
“The Brazil match can promote football across the country. The ASEAN Cup was an important competition and had generated a lot of interest. We will miss it, but we will make the best use of this FIFA international window by trying to play two more friendly matches against quality opponents ranked higher than India. We can learn a lot from such tough matches,” Chaubey added.
India Had Been Drawn in Tough Group
India were invited as one of the guest teams for the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup and had been placed in a group alongside hosts Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 21 to October 6. India are set to face Brazil in a high-profile friendly in Kolkata on October 3.
With the Brazil fixture falling during the same international window, India have opted to prioritise the friendly against the five-time world champions and withdraw from the ASEAN Cup.
