Speaking to reporters at the KPCC office here, he said, “Siddaramaiah is our leader. His brand is needed for all elections including zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat, assembly and parliament. The party has made him the CM the second time. He is doing a good job as the CM, let us not issue statements that will become fodder for the media.” He was replying to a question on inevitability of CM Siddaramaiah for the party.
Asked why there was confusing statements within the party, he said, “There was no confusion. The party is watching everything.”

Irrigation projects
Asked about former Prime Minister Deve Gowda’s statement urging states politicians to fight for state’s irrigation projects cutting across party lines, he said, “We are committed to protecting the interests of the state with respect to land and water. He had said that he would get approval for Mekedatu project in one day, but he hasn’t. I had met the Union Ministers for Mahadayi project. This is not their fight; this is state’s fight. Why should they protest when they are in power in the centre? We don’t want to politicise these issues, but they may not mind it. We have seen how they reacted when we protested for irrigation projects of the state.”
“The Centre promised Rs 5,300 crore for Upper Bhadra project but has not released it yet. Did Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy or the BJP MPs raise their voice about this in the Parliament? I was hoping thy would take this up in the House. If they want to join Godavari with Cauvery, we welcome it and we will provide all assistance needed,” he added.
Asked about their statements on water for Bengaluru, he said, “They are making their party leaders issue confusing statements on the issue. DC Thammanna doesn’t have all the information. Only a DPR has been prepared for it, no decision has been taken. We sanctioned 6 TMC of water to Bengaluru as soon as I assumed office. We will take further steps on that.”
