ಶಾಲಾ ಪ್ರವೇಶಾತಿ ನೀಡಲು ಬಾಲಕಿಯ ತಂದೆಯಿಂದ ಲಂಚ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಿತ್ತೂರು ರಾಣಿ ಚನ್ನಮ್ಮ ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರೊಬ್ಬರು ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಪೊಲೀಸರ (Lokayukta Raid) ಬಲೆಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವ ಘಟನೆ ಸೋಮವಾರ ಭದ್ರಾವತಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹುಣಸೆಕಟ್ಟೆ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.
ಭದ್ರಾವತಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ತಿಪ್ಲಾಪುರ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ ನಿವಾಸಿ, ಎಳನೀರು ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿ ಸಿ. ಮೇಘರಾಜ್ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಗಳು ಕು. ದೀಕ್ಷಾಳನ್ನು 7ನೇ ತರಗತಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸಲು ಹುಣಸೆಕಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಿತ್ತೂರು ರಾಣಿ ಚನ್ನಮ್ಮ ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲ ನಾಮದೇವ್ ಅವರು ‘ಡ್ರಮ್ ಸೆಟ್’ ನೀಡುವ ನೆಪದಲ್ಲಿ ರೂ. 20,000 ಲಂಚವನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.

ಲಂಚ ನೀಡಲು ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲದ ಮೇಘರಾಜ್ ಅವರು ಜುಲೈ 18ರಂದು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಗೆ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ದೂರಿನನ್ವಯ ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರ ಪ್ರತಿಬಂಧಕ ಕಾಯ್ದೆ-1988 (ತಿದ್ದುಪಡಿ ಕಾಯಿದೆ-2018) ಕಲಂ 7(a) ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ದೂರುದಾರರು ಮುಂಗಡವಾಗಿ ರೂ. 10,000 ನೀಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಜುಲೈ 20ರಂದು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 12.20 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಹುಣಸೆಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲ ನಾಮದೇವ್ ಅವರು ದೂರುದಾರರಿಂದ ರೂ. 10,000 ಲಂಚ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಸಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಲೆಗೆ ಬೀಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಲಂಚದ ಹಣವನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಜಪ್ತಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಆರೋಪಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ತನಿಖೆಗಾಗಿ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರಕರಣದ ತನಿಖೆಯನ್ನು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯ ಇನ್ಸ್ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ ರುದ್ರೇಶ್ ಕೆ.ಪಿ. ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Lokayukta Raid : Residential School Principal Caught While Accepting Bribe
Shivamogga: A principal of Kittur Rani Channamma Residential School was caught red-handed by Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe from a student’s father for school admission. The incident took place on Monday at Hunasekatte village in Bhadravati taluk.
According to sources, Megharaj C., a tender coconut vendor and resident of Tiplapur Camp in Bhadravati taluk, wanted to admit his daughter, Diksha, to Class 7 at the residential school. It is alleged that the school principal, Namdev, demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 under the pretext of providing a “drum set.”
Unwilling to pay the bribe, Megharaj lodged a complaint with the Shivamogga Lokayukta Police Station on July 18. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018).
As part of the trap, the complainant agreed to pay an advance of ₹10,000. Accordingly, on July 20 at around 12:20 PM, Lokayukta officials conducted a raid and caught the principal while he was accepting the bribe amount in his office at the school.
The police have seized the bribe money and taken the accused into custody for further investigation. The case is being investigated by Inspector Rudresh K.P. of the Shivamogga Lokayukta Police Station, officials said.
