BJP leader and noted neurologist Dr. Shushrutha Gowda has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to address long-pending and critical demands of his home district in the forthcoming “record” State Budget.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Wednesday, Dr. Gowda said the budget should not remain a record merely in size and terminology, but must also become historic in terms of allocations for Mysuru district. He stressed that the Chief Minister’s hometown deserves substantial financial backing that reflects both sentiment and necessity.
Through the Greater Mysuru With Great Vision, a citizens’ platform advocating solutions to Mysuru’s civic challenges, Dr. Gowda has been actively campaigning for structured urban reforms. He demanded that at least ₹1,000 crore be earmarked in the budget for heritage conservation, sustainable development, and the formation and strengthening of the proposed Greater Mysuru City Corporation.
“Mysuru represents heritage and tourism — the twin pillars of its growth. Both sectors require focused and sustained investment,” he said, urging the Chief Minister to announce a special package exclusively for Mysuru district.
Dr. Gowda also pointed out that essential infrastructure for yoga, sports, culture, and industry in Mysuru remains inadequate. The healthcare system, he noted, is under severe strain. He called for a long-term development blueprint keeping in mind the city’s needs for the next 20–30 years.
Emphasising sustainable growth, he opposed the proposal for two new flyovers within the city, stating that such projects are unnecessary and should not receive funding. “The Chief Minister must plan keeping in mind the sentiments and priorities of the entire Mysuru population,” he said.
