The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Mysuru Division, has demonstrated prompt action and vigilance by detecting the theft of railway property at Ashokapuram Yard and recovering a passenger’s lost mobile phone under Operation AMANAT.
The two incidents, reported on August 26/27 and August 27, respectively, highlight the RPF’s continued efforts to safeguard railway property and provide timely assistance to passengers.
RPF : Suspicious movement noticed at Ashokapuram Yard
During the intervening night of August 26 and 27, 2026, RPF Constable Mujamil Khan, who was on duty at Ashokapuram Yard, noticed a person moving suspiciously while carrying an electric motor.
Sensing something unusual, the constable attempted to stop the person. However, the suspect tried to flee from the spot. Mujamil Khan immediately alerted Dinesh Kumar, Post Commander, RPF Post, Mysuru, and pursued the suspect.
Following the alert, an RPF team was promptly dispatched to the location. The suspect was intercepted and detained by the team for further questioning.
The person was identified as Ashish, 26, a resident of Bihar. During the checking, he was found carrying an electric motor valued at approximately ₹4,000.
Motor stolen from condemned railway coach
Further verification revealed that the electric motor had allegedly been taken from a condemned railway coach at Ashokapuram Station.
The RPF subsequently initiated action in connection with the theft. A case has been registered against the accused, and further proceedings are being carried out as per the applicable rules and procedures.
The prompt observation and intervention by Constable Mujamil Khan helped prevent the railway property from being removed from the premises and led to the detention of the suspect.
Operation AMANAT: Lost mobile phone recovered
In a separate incident, the RPF/Mysuru also came to the assistance of a passenger who had accidentally left her mobile phone on a train.
On August 27, 2026, RPF/Mysuru received information regarding a mobile phone that had been left behind by a passenger in Train No. 16021, Chennai–Mysuru Express, after the train arrived at Mysuru Station.
Acting swiftly on the information, Rudramurthy, Head Constable/RPF, Mysuru, searched the concerned coach and successfully located and recovered the mobile phone.
Passenger contacted and phone returned
Following the recovery, Namitha A.V., Sub-Inspector/RPF, Mysuru, contacted the passenger and informed her that the mobile phone had been recovered.

The phone, valued at approximately ₹10,000, belonged to K. Jayalakshmi, 44, a resident of Chennai.
After completing the necessary verification procedures, the RPF handed over the recovered mobile phone to the passenger.
Jayalakshmi expressed her appreciation for the prompt response and assistance provided by the RPF/Mysuru team.
RPF’s vigilance praised
The two incidents underline the importance of vigilance by RPF personnel in protecting railway assets as well as assisting passengers in distress.
While the action at Ashokapuram Yard resulted in the detection of suspected railway property theft, the recovery of the mobile phone under Operation AMANAT reflects the passenger-friendly initiatives undertaken by the Railway Protection Force.
The Mysuru Division’s timely response in both cases has highlighted the role of RPF personnel in ensuring railway security, protection of railway property and passenger assistance.
