South Western Railway, Mysuru Division, in association with the Personnel and Medical Departments, organised a Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir on 18th September 2025.
The programme aimed at spreading awareness about various Government welfare schemes that provide social protection to Safai Mitras and ensuring their health and well-being.
As part of the initiative, informative pamphlets were distributed to the participants, and a comprehensive health check-up camp was conducted. The camp included screening for diabetes, osteoarthritis, cataract, anaemia, hypertension, obesity, and asthma. A special focus was laid on women employees, highlighting the concept of “Swasth Naari – Sashakth Parivaar (SNSP)”.
Various vital parameters such as pulse rate, blood pressure, SpO₂, random blood sugar, height, weight, and BMI were checked. In addition, general physical examination, systemic examination, clinical breast examination, and ECG were carried out. Minor ailments were attended to, and medicines were prescribed on the spot. Employees were also guided on health-promotive practices for better lifestyle management.
Health check-up camps were conducted across various Health Units of Mysuru Division. At Mysuru Health Unit, 80 Safai Mitras underwent medical check-ups, followed by Sakleshpur (07), Arsikere (30), Ashokapuram (26), Kabakaputtur (05), Harihar (29), Davangere (16) and Shivamogga (40), where staff benefitted from the health screening and awareness programme. In total, 233 Safai Mitras across Mysuru Division were covered under the health check-up drive.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Mudit Mittal, Divisional Railway Manager, at the Divisional Office premises, Mysuru. On this occasion, details of various welfare schemes and benefits available to the staff were also shared, reinforcing the commitment of Mysuru Division towards the welfare of its front line workers.
The day-long programme was dedicated to all Safai Mitras and was conducted simultaneously across major locations in Mysuru Division at their respective health units. The large-scale participation made it a significant step towards ensuring the health, safety, and social security of Safai Mitras.
