The Subbaiah Research Institute has taken a major step forward in advancing healthcare innovation with the launch of the Subbaiah Translational Research Initiative (STRI). The initiative, unveiled at the Framework Development Meet held on Saturday, aims to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical practice. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Lata R. Telang, Chairperson of SRI, who underscored the two decades of contributions made by the Tadikela Subbaiah Trust in strengthening medical education and healthcare services. She expressed the vision of developing SRI into a hub for impactful research and innovation.
In his presidential address, Dr. Nagendra S., Medical Director, stressed that “learning is the basic foundation, and research is fundamental.” He highlighted the growing role of technology, data-driven solutions, and collaborations in improving healthcare outcomes. Delivering the keynote, Prof. L. S. Shashidhara, Director of NCBS Bengaluru and Chief Guest, praised the institute for being the first medical college in Karnataka to adopt such a forward-looking approach. He emphasized the need for a robust research ecosystem, including reliable data systems, and advanced diagnostic tools to enable personalized treatment. He observed, Healthcare is never the effort of a single individual — it is teamwork that extends from doctors to community health workers. Other eminent guests, including Kuvempu University Vice Chancellor Dr. Sharath Ananthamurthy, Bangalore Tata Institute for Genetics and Society Director Prof. Rakesh Mishra, Hyderabad TIFR Director Prof. Ullas Kolthur Seetharam, Hyderabad Center for Cellular and Molecular Senior Scientist Prof. Kumaraswamy Thangaraj, Delhi University Assistant Professor Dr. Pallavi Kshetrapal, Netherlands KNCV TB Foundation Team Leader Dr. Vijayashree Yallappa, Subbaiah Dental College Executive Director Dr. Vinaya Srinivas, Medical College Dean Dr. Vinayak, Principal Dr. C.M.
