Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna inaugurated the newly constructed Limited Height Subway (LHS) at Old Bheemasandra Gate, Level Crossing No. 43, in Tumakuru today.
The newly developed subway is aimed at providing safer and smoother movement for road users and improving connectivity in the surrounding area. The project addresses a long-standing demand of the local people and is expected to ease the movement of pedestrians and vehicles at the location.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shri V. Somanna said that under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, India is progressing rapidly on the path of development. He noted that the construction of a subway at Bheemasandra had been a long-pending demand of the people of the region.
He said the project was completed within a short period of 10 months, reflecting the focus on expediting infrastructure and development works. According to him, such projects will contribute to the continued growth and transformation of Tumakuru.
The Union Minister further stated that developmental works are being undertaken by keeping in view the requirements of the next 100 years, with an emphasis on creating infrastructure that can serve the needs of future generations.
Tumkur : LHS Constructed at a Cost of ₹2.26 Crore
The Limited Height Subway at Old Bheemasandra Gate (LC No. 43) is located at Railway Km. 73/000–100 in Tumakuru. The subway has been constructed at an approximate cost of ₹2.26 crore.
An RCC box measuring 5.0 metres × 2.40 metres has been provided to facilitate the movement of pedestrians, two-wheelers and Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
The infrastructure is expected to improve safety by providing an alternative route for road users and reducing dependence on the level crossing at the location.

Road Widened for Smoother Vehicle Movement
As part of the project, the road in front of the old box location has also been widened. The turning radius has been increased to facilitate smoother and more convenient movement of vehicles.
The improved road geometry, along with the newly constructed subway, is expected to enhance accessibility and reduce difficulties faced by road users in the area.
The project is aimed at providing a safer and more efficient transport facility for local residents and other road users while strengthening connectivity around Bheemasandra.
Public Representatives and Railway Officials Attend
Tumakuru City MLA Shri G. B. Jyothi Ganesh, other public representatives and railway officers were present during the inauguration programme.
Earlier, Shri V. Somanna participated in a Swachhata Shramdaan programme organised at Tumakuru Railway Station. The programme was held as part of the ongoing cleanliness initiatives aimed at encouraging cleanliness and public participation at railway premises.
The inauguration of the Bheemasandra Limited Height Subway marks another step towards improving road connectivity and safety infrastructure in Tumakuru, while addressing the long-standing requirements of the local community.
