ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿ ಅಂಡ್ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್ (PESITM) ಹಾಗೂ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ (ISOC) ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಚಾಪ್ಟರ್ ಸಂಯುಕ್ತ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಜುಲೈ 13ರಿಂದ 17ರವರೆಗೆ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾದ ಐದು ದಿನಗಳ Building Wireless Community Networks (BWCN) ಬೂಟ್ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ನ ಪದವಿ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಪಿಇಎಸ್ಐಟಿಎಂ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ನೆರವೇರಿತು.
Building Wireless Community Networks (BWCN) ಹಾಗೂ Online Trust and Safety ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಸಘನ ತರಬೇತಿ ಶಿಬಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಆಧಾರಿತ ವೈರ್ಲೆಸ್ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ, ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಒಳಗೊಳ್ಳಿಕೆ, ಸೈಬರ್ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ನೂತನ ವೈರ್ಲೆಸ್ ಸಂವಹನ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ತರಬೇತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ಪದವಿ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ (ISOC)ಯ Global Training and e-Learning Partnerships ವಿಭಾಗದ ಹಿರಿಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಮರಿಯನ್ ಪ್ಲೆಟೋಸು ಅವರು, ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಸಮಾನತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಕೊನೆಯ ಮೈಲು ಸಂಪರ್ಕ (Last Mile Connectivity) ವರೆಗೆ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಒತ್ತಿಹೇಳಿದರು.
“ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೂ ತಲುಪಬೇಕು. ಸಂಪರ್ಕದಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತರಾಗಿರುವ ಜನರನ್ನು ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವಹಿಸುತ್ತವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ನೆಟ್ವರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ತಜ್ಞರನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಇಎಸ್ಐಟಿಎಂ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಲೋಕಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಸಂಸದರು ಹಾಗೂ ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಬಿ. ವೈ. ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಅಭಿಯಾನದತ್ತ ತಮ್ಮ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಪುನರುಚ್ಚರಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಆರು ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಆಧಾರಿತ ವೈರ್ಲೆಸ್ ನೆಟ್ವರ್ಕ್ಗಳ ಪೈಲಟ್ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದರು.
ನಗರಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಅತಿದೂರದ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳವರೆಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಾರ್ಹ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಇಎಸ್ಐಟಿಎಂ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಡಿ. ಆರ್. ಅವರು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಗೌರವ ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದರು.
ಪಿಇಎಸ್ಐಟಿಎಂಗೆ ISOC Academic Hub
ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿ ಅಂಡ್ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ (ISOC) ಲರ್ನಿಂಗ್ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ “Academic Hub” ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ ಪ್ರದಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಸಾಕ್ಷರತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಆಧಾರಿತ ನೆಟ್ವರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸಿರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಗೌರವ ಲಭಿಸಿದೆ.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಚಾಪ್ಟರ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಡಾ. ಶೋಭಾ ಶಂಕರ್, ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಬಿ.ಯು. ಆದರ್ಶ್, ಬಿಎಸ್ಎನ್ಎಲ್ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಎಜಿಎಂ ಸಮಿತಾ ಸರ್ಕಾರ್, ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ರಿಜಿಸ್ಟ್ರಾರ್ ಡಾ. ಆರ್. ನಾಗರಾಜ, ಪಿಇಎಸ್ಐಟಿಎಂ ಉಪಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ಆರ್. ಶೇಖರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಇಸಿಇ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರು ಮತ್ತು ಬೂಟ್ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ವಿಷ್ಣು ವಿ. ಎಂ. ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಗಣ್ಯರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ವಿವಿಧ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಿದ ಒಟ್ಟು 50 ಮಂದಿ ತರಬೇತಿಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಬೂಟ್ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ ಅನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಪದವಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದರು.
ವಂದನಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಡಾ. ವಿಷ್ಣು ವಿ. ಎಂ. ಅವರು ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ, ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್, ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು, ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು, ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗೀತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭವು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಸಮಾಪ್ತಿಯಾಯಿತು.
BWCN ಬೂಟ್ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ನ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಆಯೋಜನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಿಇಎಸ್ಐಟಿಎಂಗೆ ಲಭಿಸಿದ “ISOC Academic Hub” ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ, ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಸಾಕ್ಷರತೆ, ಸಮುದಾಯ ಆಧಾರಿತ ನೆಟ್ವರ್ಕಿಂಗ್, ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ನವೀನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾದ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲಾಗಿದೆ.
PESITM Hosts BWCN Bootcamp Valedictory, Receives ISOC Academic Hub Recognition
The valedictory and certificate distribution ceremony of the five-day Building Wireless Community Networks (BWCN) bootcamp, jointly organised by PES Institute of Technology and Management (PESITM) and the Internet Society (ISOC) Bengaluru Chapter, was held with grandeur at the PESITM campus.
The intensive training programme, conducted from July 13 to 17, focused on Building Wireless Community Networks and Online Trust and Safety. Participants received practical and technical training on community-based wireless network deployment, digital inclusion, cybersecurity, and emerging wireless communication technologies.
Marian Pletosu, Senior Manager of Global Training and e-Learning Partnerships at ISOC, attended as the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. Emphasising the importance of last-mile connectivity, she stated that expanding internet access to underserved communities is essential to achieving digital equality. She also appreciated PESITM’s efforts in nurturing future networking professionals.
The event was presided over by Shivamogga Member of Parliament and PES Trust President B.Y. Raghavendra. Reaffirming his commitment to the Digital India initiative, he announced pilot projects to establish community-based wireless networks at six locations in his constituency, aiming to provide reliable internet connectivity from urban centres to remote villages.
On the occasion, PESITM Principal Dr. Swamy D.R. received a commemorative memento on behalf of the institution.
ISOC Academic Hub Recognition
PESITM was also conferred the prestigious “ISOC Academic Hub” recognition by the Internet Society Learning wing, acknowledging its efforts in promoting digital literacy and community networking education.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries including ISOC Bengaluru Chapter President Dr. Shobha Shankar, Vice President B.U. Adarsh, BSNL Shivamogga AGM Samita Sarkar, PES Trust Registrar Dr. R. Nagaraj, Vice Principal Dr. R. Shekhar, and ECE HoD and Bootcamp Coordinator Dr. Vishnu V.M.
A total of 50 participants from various academic institutions and industries successfully completed the bootcamp and received certificates. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, cultural programmes, and the national anthem.

The successful organised of the BWCN bootcamp and PESITM’s recognition as an ISOC Academic Hub mark a significant milestone in advancing digital literacy, community networking, and technology-driven education aligned with industry needs.
