ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯ (Chaturmasya) ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತ ಯೋಗನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತನ ಸ್ಮರಣೆ, ಭಾಗವತ ಶ್ರವಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಮಳೆ, ಬೆಳೆ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಳಿತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದೇ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಈ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮದುವೆ, ಉಪನಯನ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೃಹಪ್ರವೇಶದಂತಹ ಶುಭಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಶ್ರಾವಣದಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ತಿಕ ಮಾಸದವರೆಗೆ ಇರುವ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳ ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯ ಅವಧಿ ಭಗವಂತನಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಿಯವಾದ ಪುಣ್ಯಕಾಲವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವತ ಶ್ರವಣ, ಭಜನೆ, ದಾನ, ವ್ರತ ಹಾಗೂ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಅನಂತ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಲಭಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಬಾರಕೂರು ಭಂಡಾರಕೇರಿ ಮಠದ ಪರಮಪೂಜ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿದ್ಯೇಶ ತೀರ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀಪಾದಂಗಳವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಬಾರಕೂರು ಶ್ರೀ ಪಟ್ಟಾಭಿರಾಮ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ತಮ್ಮ 47ನೇ ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯ ವ್ರತ ಪುರಪ್ರವೇಶ ಹಾಗೂ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಆಶೀರ್ವಚನ ನೀಡಿದರು.
“ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತ ಯೋಗನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತನ ಸ್ಮರಣೆ, ಭಾಗವತ ಶ್ರವಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಮಳೆ, ಬೆಳೆ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಳಿತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದೇ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಈ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮದುವೆ, ಉಪನಯನ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೃಹಪ್ರವೇಶದಂತಹ ಶುಭಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಸನ್ಯಾಸಿಗಳು ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚಾರವನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ ಒಂದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತಪಸ್ಸು, ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆ ತಪೋಬಲದ ಮೂಲಕ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಶ್ರೀಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಸಂಜೆ ಪ್ರವಚನ
ಈ ಬಾರಿಯ ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಬಾರಕೂರು ಭಂಡಾರಕೇರಿ ಮಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಸಂಜೆ ಪ್ರವಚನ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾಗವತ ಶ್ರವಣ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಭಕ್ತರ ಅನುಕೂಲಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಾರಕೂರು ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಿಂದ ಮಠಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಂತರ ಮರಳಿ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉಚಿತ ವಾಹನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಶ್ರೀಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಭೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಶಾಸಕ ಕಿರಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಕೊಡ್ಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಶ್ರೀಗಳ ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಬಾರಕೂರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಳಿತಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.
ಯುವಜನತೆಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರದ ಅಗತ್ಯ
ಪುರಪ್ರವೇಶ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಗೌರವಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಂಭಾಶಿ ಆನೆಗುಡ್ಡೆ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಕೆ. ಶ್ರೀರಮಣ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯ, ಯತಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಿಗೆ ಚಾತುರ್ಮಾಸ್ಯವೆಂದರೆ ಕಠಿಣ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾರಮಾರ್ಥಿಕ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಶಿಷ್ಯಕೋಟಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಧಾರೆ ಎರೆಯುವ ವ್ರತವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಪಂಚಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಜೀರ್ಣೋದ್ಧಾರ ಸಮಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಸುಗ್ಗಿ ಸುಧಾಕರ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಯುವಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲು ಇಂತಹ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವಜನತೆ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಪಂಚಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಜೀರ್ಣೋದ್ಧಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಾರಕೂರಿನ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಂಚಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ನಿಕಟಪೂರ್ವ ಮೊಕ್ತೇಸರ ಮಂಜುನಾಥರಾವ್, ಪಟ್ಟಾಭಿರಾಮ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮೊಕ್ತೇಸರ ಸುರೇಶ್ ಪೈ, ಕಲ್ಕೂರ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾನದ ಪ್ರದೀಪ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಕಲ್ಕೂರ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಎಜಿಎಂ ರಮೇಶ್ ವೈದ್ಯ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಗಣ್ಯರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ “ಭಾಗವತ ಬಿಂದುಸರ” ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಗಳವರು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಬಾರಕೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಶಾಂತಾರಾಮ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ವಿಜಯ ಕಡೇಕಾರ್ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದರು. ಡಾ. ಶ್ರೀನಿಧಿ ವಸಿಷ್ಟ ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ವೆಂಕಟರಮಣ ಭಂಡಾರ್ಕರ್ ವಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಜಯರಾಮ ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.
Listening to Bhagavata, Charity During Chaturmasya Brings Infinite Merit
Barkur: Observing spiritual practices such as listening to the Bhagavata, devotional singing, charity, religious vows, and yajnas during the four sacred months of Chaturmasya brings immense spiritual merit, said His Holiness Sri Sri Vidyesha Tirtha Sripadangalavaru of Barkur Bhandarakeri Math.
Delivering his blessings during the ceremonial entry and inaugural function of his 47th Chaturmasya Vrata at Sri Pattabhirama Temple, Barkur, the seer said that the period from Shravana to Kartika is regarded as the most sacred phase of the year, during which Lord Vishnu is believed to be in Yoga Nidra (divine slumber).
“Remembering the Lord and engaging in spiritual activities during this holy period brings prosperity, timely rains, abundant crops, and the welfare of society. Traditionally, auspicious ceremonies such as marriages, Upanayana, and housewarming functions are avoided during these four months,” he said.
Sri Vidyesha Tirtha further explained that monks remain at one place during Chaturmasya instead of travelling, dedicating themselves to intense spiritual contemplation, scriptural study, penance, and religious observances. “It is through this spiritual strength that they bless their disciples and society,” he added.
Daily Discourses During Chaturmasya
The Swamiji announced that daily evening spiritual discourses and Bhagavata pravachanas will be held throughout the Chaturmasya period at Bhandarakeri Math in Barkur. To facilitate devotees, a special vehicle service has been arranged every evening from the Barkur Bus Stand to the Math and back after the programme.

Presiding over the function, Kundapura MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi expressed hope that the Chaturmasya celebrations would bring prosperity and spiritual well-being to Barkur and the surrounding region.
Call to Preserve Culture and Values
Chairman of the Reception Committee and representative of Kumbashi Anegudde Temple, K. Sriramana Upadhyaya, said Chaturmasya is a period during which saints undertake rigorous spiritual and philosophical study to guide and enlighten their disciples.
President of the Panchalingeshwara Temple Renovation Committee, Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, stressed the importance of imparting cultural and moral values to the younger generation alongside formal education. He also appealed for public support towards the renovation of the Panchalingeshwara Temple and the overall development of Barkur.
Former Moktesar of Panchalingeshwara Temple Manjunath Rao, Pattabhirama Temple Administrative Moktesar Suresh Pai, Pradeep Kumar Kalkur of Kalkur Pratishthana, Ramesh Vaidya, AGM of Karnataka Bank, and several other dignitaries were present.
Former Barkur Gram Panchayat President Shantaram Shetty welcomed the gathering and said it was a matter of pride that the internationally renowned Bhandarakeri Math is situated in Barkur.
During the programme, His Holiness released the book “Bhagavata Bindusara.” The event began with a prayer by Vijaya Kadekar, followed by the introductory address by Dr. Srinidhi Vasishta. Venkataramana Bhandarkar proposed the vote of thanks, while Jayarama Acharya compered the programme. Office-bearers including U.B.
