ರಾಜ್ಯ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯ ಹಿರಿಯ ಧುರೀಣ, ಮಾಜಿ ಸಚಿವ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾಜಿ ವಿಧಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾದ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರೇಗೌಡ (88) (Ramachandre Gowda) ಅವರು ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಇಂದು ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು (Bengaluru) ರಾಜಾಜಿನಗರದ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಿನಿಂದ ತೀವ್ರ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯದಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ರಾಜಾಜಿನಗರದ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಫಲಕಾರಿಯಾಗದೆ ಇಂದು ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ಅವರು ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಪಕ್ಷವನ್ನು ತಳಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡಲು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರೇಗೌಡರು, ಮಾಜಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಬಿ.ಎಸ್. ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೆಗಲಿಗೆ ಹೆಗಲುಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡಿದ ನಾಯಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಪಕ್ಷದ ಆರಂಭದ ದಿನಗಳಿಂದಲೇ ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಸಂಘಟನೆಯನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಪಕ್ಕಾ ಆರ್ಎಸ್ಎಸ್ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯವರಾದ ಅವರು 1953ರಲ್ಲೇ ಸಂಘಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಂಡು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಜೀವನ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ನಂತರ 1970ರಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯ ಪೂರ್ವ ರೂಪವಾದ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಜನಸಂಘದ ಮೂಲಕ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ನಿಗಮಕ್ಕೆ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದ ಮೊದಲ ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟರ್ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಕೆ ಇವರದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಬೇರೂರಿಕೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ರಾಜ್ಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಿದ ಅವರು ಸತತ ಐದು ಬಾರಿ ವಿಧಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಬಿ.ಎಸ್. ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಸರ್ಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಚಿವರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
2010ರಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ನೇಮಕಾತಿ ಹಗರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಸರು ಕೇಳಿಬಂದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೈತಿಕ ಹೊಣೆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಸಚಿವ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಕಾನೂನು ಹೋರಾಟದ ನಂತರ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಅವರು ದೋಷಮುಕ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತೀರ್ಪು ನೀಡಿತ್ತು.
ಸುಮಾರು ಐದು ದಶಕಗಳ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನದ ನಂತರ 2018ರಲ್ಲಿ ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದ ರಾಜಕೀಯದಿಂದ ನಿವೃತ್ತಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಇವರ ನಿಧನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಹಂತದ ಒಂದು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ ಕೊನೆಗೊಂಡಂತಾಗಿದೆ.
Senior BJP Leader Ramachandregowda Passes Away
Senior BJP leader, former minister, and former Member of the Legislative Council, Ramachandregowda (88), passed away early this morning at a private hospital in Rajajinagar due to age-related ailments.
He had been undergoing treatment for the past one month after suffering from prolonged illness. Despite medical efforts, he breathed his last in the early hours today.
Ramachandregowda was one of the key leaders who played a crucial role in building the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the grassroots level in Karnataka. He worked closely with former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa and was instrumental in strengthening the party during its formative years.
With a strong Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) background, he began his public life in 1953 by joining the RSS and later formally entered politics in 1970.
He holds the distinction of being the first corporator elected to the then Bangalore City Corporation (now BBMP) from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor of the BJP. His efforts significantly contributed to establishing the party’s base in Bengaluru.
A prominent figure in state politics, Ramachandregowda was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council five consecutive times. He also served as the Minister for Medical Education in the government led by B. S. Yediyurappa.
In 2010, he resigned from his ministerial post, taking moral responsibility after his name surfaced in a medical college recruitment controversy. However, after a prolonged legal battle, the High Court later cleared him of all charges.
After an active political career spanning nearly five decades, he announced his retirement from politics in 2018 due to age-related reasons.
With his demise, an important chapter in the early history of the BJP in Karnataka has come to an end.
