ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ (Shivamogga) ಲೋಕಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಕೋಟೆಗಂಗೂರು ಕೋಚಿಂಗ್ ಡಿಪೋ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಒಟ್ಟು ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶೇ.77ರಷ್ಟು ಹಣಕಾಸು ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಸಾಧಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಸಚಿವ ಅಶ್ವಿನಿ ವೈಷ್ಣವ್ ಅವರು ಲೋಕಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಸಂಸದ ಬಿ.ವೈ. ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಭಾಗದ ರೈಲು ಸಂಪರ್ಕವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ₹76.01 ಕೋಟಿ ಅಂದಾಜು ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷಿ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಸಂಸದ ಬಿ.ವೈ. ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಅವರ ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ವೇಗ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, 2026ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 31ರವರೆಗೆ ₹58.82 ಕೋಟಿ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಉಳಿದ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಗದಿತ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಲು 2026-27ನೇ ಸಾಲಿನ ಪ್ರಸಕ್ತ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯ ₹9.50 ಕೋಟಿ ಅನುದಾನವನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.
ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳು
ಯೋಜನೆಯಡಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿವೆ.
- ಕೋಟೆಗಂಗೂರು ರೈಲ್ವೆ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣ (Station Building) ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ
- ಸೇವಾ ಕಟ್ಟಡ (Service Building) ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ
- ರೈಲು ಬೋಗಿಗಳ ದುರಸ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಸಿಕ್ ಲೈನ್ ಕವರ್ಡ್ ಶೆಡ್ (Sick Line Covered Shed) ಪಾಯದ (Foundation) ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ
- ಶರವೇಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳು
ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಮುಂದಿನ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿವೆ.
- 24 ಬೋಗಿಗಳ ರೈಲುಗಳ ತಪಾಸಣೆಗೆ 2 ಆಧುನಿಕ ಪಿಟ್ ಲೈನ್ಗಳು (Pit Lines)
- ರೈಲುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಲು 2 ಸ್ಟೇಬ್ಲಿಂಗ್ ಲೈನ್ಗಳು (Stabling Lines)
- 1 ಲೂಪ್ ಲೈನ್ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ
- ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ವಸತಿ ಗೃಹಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ
ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳು ನಿಗದಿತ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯಂತೆ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದು ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಇಲಾಖೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.
ಭೂಸ್ವಾಧೀನದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮ ಪ್ರಗತಿ
ಯೋಜನೆಗೆ ಒಟ್ಟು 38 ಎಕರೆ ಭೂಮಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದ್ದು, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ 31.3 ಎಕರೆ ಭೂಸ್ವಾಧೀನ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಉಳಿದಿರುವ 6.7 ಎಕರೆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಶಂಟಿಂಗ್ ನೆಕ್ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲೇ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಯೋಜನೆ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಸಂಸದ ಬಿ.ವೈ. ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ, ಕೋಟೆಗಂಗೂರು ಕೋಚಿಂಗ್ ಡಿಪೋ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ಜನರ ಹಲವು ದಶಕಗಳ ಕನಸಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದರ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡ ಬಳಿಕ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಹಬ್ ಆಗಿ ಹೊರಹೊಮ್ಮಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
24 ಬೋಗಿಗಳ ರೈಲುಗಳ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಹಾಗೂ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಸೇವೆಗಳು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಲಿದ್ದು, ಇದರಿಂದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಅಥವಾ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಮೇಲಿನ ಅವಲಂಬನೆ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದಿಂದಲೇ ದೇಶದ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ನಗರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಎಕ್ಸ್ಪ್ರೆಸ್ ರೈಲುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲುಗಳ ಸೇವೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲು ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

Shivamogga Koteganguru Coaching Depot Project Achieves 77% Progresss
New Delhi: The construction of the Shivamogga Koteganguru Coaching Depot, a key railway infrastructure project for the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, is progressing steadily, with 77% financial progress achieved so far. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra in the Lok Sabha about the project’s status.
The ambitious project, being developed at an estimated cost of ₹76.01 crore, aims to strengthen railway infrastructure and improve rail connectivity across Shivamogga and the Malnad region. Owing to the continuous efforts of MP B.Y. Raghavendra and the support of the Central Government, work on the project has gained significant momentum.
As of March 31, 2026, construction worth ₹58.82 crore has been completed. To ensure timely completion of the remaining works, the Ministry of Railways has allocated an additional ₹9.50 crore for the 2026–27 financial year.
Major Works Completed
Several important infrastructure components have already been completed under the project, including:
- Construction of the Koteganguru Railway Station Building
- Construction of the Service Building
- Completion of the foundation work for the Sick Line Covered Shed, which will be used for maintenance and repairs of railway coaches
Works in Progress
The next phase of the project includes several major facilities that are currently under construction:
- Two modern Pit Lines for inspection and maintenance of 24-coach trains
- Two Stabling Lines for parking trains
- One Loop Line
- Residential quarters for railway staff
According to the Railway Ministry, all these works are progressing as per schedule.
Significant Progress in Land Acquisition
The project requires a total of 38 acres of land. Out of this, 31.3 acres have already been acquired.
The acquisition of the remaining 6.7 acres, required for the construction of the shunting neck, is underway in coordination with the Karnataka Government.
Shivamogga Set to Emerge as a Railway Hub: B.Y. Raghavendra
Reacting to the project’s progress, Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra said the Koteganguru Coaching Depot has been a long-cherished dream of the people of Shivamogga and the surrounding districts.
He expressed confidence that once completed, the depot will transform Shivamogga into an independent railway hub.
The depot will enable maintenance and technical servicing of 24-coach trains within Shivamogga itself, reducing dependence on railway facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru.
He further stated that the new facility would pave the way for launching additional Express and Vande Bharat train services from Shivamogga to major cities across the country.
Gratitude to the Central Government
MP B.Y. Raghavendra thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their continued support towards railway development in Shivamogga district.
He said every effort is being made to complete and dedicate the Koteganguru Railway Coaching Depot to the public at the earliest, ushering in a new era of transportation and infrastructure development for the Malnad region.
