ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಸೇತುವೆ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ದಂಪತಿಯೊಂದು ಉಕ್ಕಿ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಗೋದಾವರಿ ನದಿಗೆ (Godavari River) ಹಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎನ್ನಲಾದ ದಾರುಣ ಘಟನೆ ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದ (Andra Pradesh) ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಗೋದಾವರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಗುರುವಾರ ತಡರಾತ್ರಿ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಘಟನೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಆತಂಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಘಾತ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ.
ಚಿಂಚಿನಾಡ ವಸಿಷ್ಠ ಸೇತುವೆ ಬಳಿ ಈ ಘಟನೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ವೆಲ್ಪೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಯಿ (29) ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಶಿರೀಷಾ (28) ನದಿಗೆ ಹಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ. ದಂಪತಿಯ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದ ಪುತ್ರನನ್ನು ಸೇತುವೆ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅವರು ನದಿಗೆ ಹಾರಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ರಾತ್ರಿ 10ರ ಸುಮಾರಿಗೆ ಸೇತುವೆಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ದಂಪತಿ
ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ತನಿಖೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಗುರುವಾರ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಸುಮಾರು 10 ಗಂಟೆ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಸಾಯಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿರೀಷಾ ತಮ್ಮ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗುವಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಂಚಿನಾಡ ವಸಿಷ್ಠ ಸೇತುವೆಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಅವರು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ ಬಳಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಉಕ್ಕಿ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಗೋದಾವರಿ ನದಿಗೆ ಹಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ರಾತ್ರಿ ವೇಳೆ ಸೇತುವೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಗು ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಳುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ದಾರಿಹೋಕರು ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಚಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕತ್ತಲಿನ ನಡುವೆ ಮಗು ಆತಂಕದಿಂದ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ “ಅಮ್ಮ… ನಾನ್ನ” (ಅಮ್ಮ… ಅಪ್ಪ) ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮಗುವಿನ ಪೋಷಕರು ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದಾಗ, ದಂಪತಿ ನದಿಗೆ ಹಾರಿರುವ ಶಂಕೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಮಗುವನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ ಪೊಲೀಸರು
ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ದಂಪತಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ನ್ನು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದು ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ನಂತರ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ ದಂಪತಿಯನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಲು ಗೋದಾವರಿ ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶೋಧ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಪೊಲೀಸರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ, ಈಜುಗಾರರು ಹಾಗೂ ಬೋಟ್ ತಂಡಗಳು ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶೋಧ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿವೆ. ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿನ ಹರಿವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶೋಧ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಗೆ ಸವಾಲು ಎದುರಾಗಿದೆ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ವರದಿ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪತ್ತೆಗಾಗಿ ಶೋಧ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿತ್ತು.
ಸಾಲದ ಒತ್ತಡವೇ ಕಾರಣವೇ?
ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ತನಿಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಯಿ ಚಾಲಕನಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕೆಲಕಾಲ ಗಲ್ಫ್ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ಎಂಬ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ದೊರೆತಿದೆ. ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಸಾಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಒತ್ತಡದಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಎನ್ನುವ ಶಂಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಪತಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದರು ಎಂಬ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯೂ ತನಿಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಈ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಒತ್ತಡವೇ ದಂಪತಿ ಇಂತಹ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿರಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಶಂಕಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಆದರೆ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟವೇ ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಏಕೈಕ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಇನ್ನೂ ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿಲ್ಲ. ದಂಪತಿ ನದಿಗೆ ಹಾರಲು ಕಾರಣವೇನು ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ.
ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ದಂಪತಿಯ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಘಟನೆಗೂ ಮುನ್ನ ನಡೆದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Andra Pradesh : Couple Allegedly Jumps Into Godavari River, Leaves 3-Year-Old Child Alone on Bridge
West Godavari: A tragic incident has been reported from West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, where a couple allegedly jumped into the swollen Godavari River after leaving their three-year-old child alone on a bridge late Thursday night. The incident has shocked locals and raised concerns over the safety of the child.
The incident occurred near the Chinchinada Vasishta Bridge. The couple, identified as Dodda Sai (29) and his wife Shireesha (28), were residents of Velpuru village. According to police, the couple allegedly left their three-year-old son on a scooter parked on the bridge before jumping into the river.
Couple Reached Bridge Around 10 pm
According to preliminary investigations, Sai and Shireesha arrived at the Chinchinada Vasishta Bridge on a scooter with their three-year-old son at around 10 pm on Thursday.
The couple allegedly left the child near the scooter and then jumped into the swollen Godavari River. The child was left alone on the bridge in the dark and cold.
Passersby noticed the child crying and alerted the police. The boy was reportedly calling out “Amma… Nanna” (Mother… Father) in distress. Locals soon realised that the child’s parents were missing and informed the authorities.
Police Rescue Child
Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information and took the three-year-old into their care. The scooter used by the couple was also secured as part of the investigation.
The child was later handed over to family members. Meanwhile, a search operation was launched in the Godavari River to trace the missing couple.
Search Operation Underway
Police, along with local rescuers, swimmers and boat teams, launched an intensive search operation in the river.
The rising water level and strong current in the Godavari have made the search operation challenging. Efforts to locate Sai and Shireesha were continuing at the time of reporting.
Financial Distress Suspected
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Sai worked as a driver and had also spent some time working in a Gulf country before returning to Andhra Pradesh.
Police suspect that he had been facing mounting debts and financial pressure in recent days. Investigators are also looking into reports that the couple had been planning to sell their house due to financial difficulties.
However, police have not officially confirmed financial distress as the sole reason behind the incident. The exact circumstances that led to the couple allegedly jumping into the river remain under investigation.
Police have registered a case and are examining the couple’s financial background, personal circumstances and events leading up to the incident. Further details are expected as the investigation and search operation continue.
