GE Aerospace announced an investment of ₹100 crore in its manufacturing facility in Pune, further expanding its production capabilities and reinforcing its long-term commitment to India.
The investment will fund the introduction of advanced welding technologies, precision tools, inspection systems, and infrastructure upgrades, aimed at increasing production capacity and enhancing manufacturing precision for global aerospace customers.
This move builds on the ₹410 crore invested by the company over the past two years, taking the total investment in the Pune facility to over ₹510 crore within three years. Earlier investments focused on automation and next-generation engine component manufacturing.
The Pune facility plays a critical role in GE Aerospace’s global supply chain, producing components for key engine programs such as GE90, GEnx, and GE9X, along with the LEAP engine program developed by CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.

Speaking on the development, Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the Pune facility, said the investment underscores the company’s confidence in India and highlights the facility’s growing importance as a high-capability aerospace manufacturing hub.
The facility currently collaborates with over 300 local suppliers, forming part of a broader network of 2,200+ suppliers across India, thereby strengthening the country’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.
GE Aerospace is also expanding workforce development initiatives through its Pune operations. The facility runs a two-year apprenticeship program, training more than 500 apprentices annually, and has trained over 5,000 production associates since 2015, including specialized welding skills.
With a presence in India for over four decades, GE Aerospace continues to invest in manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain development. Its engines power major Indian airlines and defense platforms, including the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mk1, reinforcing its strategic role in the country’s aviation ecosystem.
The latest investment further positions India as a key hub in the future of global aerospace manufacturing.
