ಕಾವೇರಿ ನದಿ ನೀರಿನ ಹಂಚಿಕೆ ವಿಚಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ವೈಫಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸಿ ಜುಲೈ 31ರಂದು ಮಂಡ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ (Mandya) ಭಾರತೀಯ ಜನತಾ ಪಕ್ಷದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಭಾರೀ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಶಾಸಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಬಿ.ವೈ. ವಿಜಯೇಂದ್ರ (BYVijayendra) ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಇಂದು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ಈ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಪಕ್ಷ ನಾಯಕ ಆರ್. ಅಶೋಕ್ ಅವರ ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ರೈತ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಘ-ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಈ ಹೋರಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ, ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರೈತರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಧ್ವನಿಯಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ತೀವ್ರ ಟೀಕೆ
ಕಾವೇರಿ ನೀರಿನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಡಿ.ಕೆ. ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ವಿಫಲರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದ ವಿಜಯೇಂದ್ರ, ಸಿಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಆರ್ಸಿ (Cauvery Water Regulation Committee) ಮುಂದೆ ವಾದ ಮಂಡಿಸಲು ನಿಯೋಜಿತ ವಕೀಲರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ನೀರಿನ ಲಭ್ಯತೆ ಕುರಿತು ಸಮಗ್ರ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಫಲರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರೈತರು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಮಳೆಯ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಂದ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕಾವೇರಿ ಕಣಿವೆಯ ರೈತರು ಬೆಳೆ ಬಿತ್ತನೆಗೂ ಅಸಮರ್ಥರಾಗಿರುವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಆರ್ಸಿ ಸೂಚನೆಗೂ ಮುನ್ನವೇ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿಗೆ ನೀರು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಕಿಡಿಕಾರಿದರು.
“ವಾಸ್ತವಾಂಶವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತಲ್ಲವೇ?”
ರಾಜ್ಯದ ವಾಸ್ತವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಿಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಆರ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ವಿಫಲವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾವೇರಿ ಕಣಿವೆಯ ಜನರು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿಗೂ ತೊಂದರೆ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ರೈತರು ಬಿತ್ತನೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ನೀಡಿರುವ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಆತಂಕಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಟೀಕಿಸಿದರು.
ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು, ಯುಪಿಎ ಮೈತ್ರಿ ಪಾಲುದಾರರಾದ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸಲು ಈ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದರು.

ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಡಿ.ಕೆ. ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ರೈತರ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿನ ಲಭ್ಯತೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಕವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿಗೆ ನೀರು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ವಿಜಯೇಂದ್ರ ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದರು.

ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಮಾಜಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಅವರು ಚುನಾವಣಾ ರಾಜಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸರಿಯುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ 2028ರ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳು 50-60ಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿಯಲಿವೆ ಎಂದು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
BJP Protest in Mandya on July 31: Vijayendra Announces
Shivamogga: Condemning the state government’s failure in handling the Cauvery river water issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage a major protest in Mandya on July 31, said BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra.
Speaking to the media in Shivamogga on Tuesday, Vijayendra stated that the protest will be led by himself along with Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka. He urged farmer organisations and various groups to participate in the protest and raise their voice in support of distressed farmers.
Sharp Criticism of State Government
Vijayendra accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of completely failing in addressing the Cauvery water dispute. He alleged that the lawyers and officials representing Karnataka before the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) failed to present comprehensive data regarding water availability in the state.
He noted that farmers in Karnataka are already facing severe distress due to lack of rainfall. Farmers in the Cauvery basin, in particular, are struggling even to begin sowing activities. In such a situation, releasing water to Tamil Nadu even before CWRC directives reflects the negligence of the state government, he criticised.
“Shouldn’t the Facts Have Been Presented?”
Questioning the government’s approach, Vijayendra said the actual ground situation should have been clearly presented before the CWRC. He pointed out that people in the Cauvery basin are facing difficulties even for drinking water. He also criticised the Chief Minister’s reported statement advising farmers not to take up sowing, calling it deeply concerning.
He alleged that the Congress government has betrayed farmers in the state and acted to please its UPA ally, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
“Water for Karnataka First”
Vijayendra stressed that the Chief Minister must respond to the plight of farmers in Karnataka. He asserted that water should be released to Tamil Nadu only after ensuring sufficient availability within the state.
Prediction on Congress Prospects
Commenting on political developments, Vijayendra said that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s decision to step back from electoral politics would weaken the Congress party. He expressed confidence that the party’s tally in the 2028 Assembly elections would drop to around 50–60 seats.
