ದೇಶ ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಜನರು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ ಅಪಾರ ನೋವು, ಸಂಕಷ್ಟ, ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೀವಹಾನಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 14ರಂದು ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುವ (Partition Horrors Remembrance Day) ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಕರಾಳತೆಯ ಸ್ಮರಣಾ ದಿನವನ್ನು ನೈಋತ್ಯ ರೈಲ್ವೆಯ (SWR) ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಭಾಗದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಮೈಸೂರು (Mysore) ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ದೇಶ ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಎದುರಾದ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳು, ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರ, ಅಪಾರ ಆಸ್ತಿ-ಪಾಸ್ತಿ ನಷ್ಟ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೀವಹಾನಿಯಂತಹ ದುಃಖದ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ, ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಆ ಕರಾಳ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ನಿವೃತ್ತ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ನೌಕರರಿಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾನ
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶ ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿದವರು ಹಾಗೂ ದೇಶದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದವರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಭಾಗದ ವಿಭಾಗೀಯ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಮುದಿತ್ ಮಿತ್ತಲ್ ಅವರು ನಿವೃತ್ತ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ನೌಕರ ನಾಗರಾಜ್ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಅವರನ್ನು ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಾಗಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರು.
ನಾಗರಾಜ್ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಅವರ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ನೌಕರರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಅಪರೂಪದ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ದೇಶ ವಿಭಜನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯಿತು. ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ ನೋವು, ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರ, ಸಂಕಷ್ಟ, ಧೈರ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ದೃಢಸಂಕಲ್ಪವನ್ನು ಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ಹಲವು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ, ಊರು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಸ್ತಿಪಾಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಗೊಂಡ ಜನರ ಬದುಕಿನ ಚಿತ್ರಣಗಳು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದವು. ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಜನರು ತೋರಿದ ಧೈರ್ಯ, ಸಹನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದೃಢಸಂಕಲ್ಪವನ್ನು ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸಿದವು.

ಈ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವು ದೇಶದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ನೋವಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಅಂದು ಎದುರಾದ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಭಾರತವು ಏಕತೆ, ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುನ್ನಡೆದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಸಾರುವಂತಿತ್ತು.
ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆ
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಭಾಗದ ವಿಭಾಗೀಯ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಮುದಿತ್ ಮಿತ್ತಲ್, ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಕರಾಳತೆಯ ಸ್ಮರಣಾ ದಿನವು ಕೇವಲ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದಿನವಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ ನೋವು, ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ, ಇಂದಿನ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕತೆ, ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸೌಹಾರ್ದತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪವನ್ನು ಪುನರುಚ್ಚರಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಹಿಂದಿನ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಿಂದ ಪಾಠ ಕಲಿಯುವುದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅಗತ್ಯ. ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಭಿನ್ನತೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಮನೋಭಾವಗಳು ಸಮಾಜದ ಶಾಂತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗದಂತೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಗೌರವ, ಸಹಬಾಳ್ವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದ ಮೂಲಕ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಮಿತ್ತಲ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ದೇಶದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಕಷ್ಟದ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ತೋರಿದ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವುದು ಇಂತಹ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ವಿಭಾಗೀಯ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಶಮ್ಮಾಸ್ ಹಮೀದ್, ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ವಿವಿಧ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೈಸೂರು ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಕರಾಳತೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ದೇಶದ ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಖಂಡತೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು, ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ನೋವಿನ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸೌಹಾರ್ದತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಹಬಾಳ್ವೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿತು.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day Observed by Mysuru Division
Mysuru: The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day at Mysuru Railway Station on August 14, commemorating the immense pain, suffering, displacement and loss of lives endured by millions of people during the Partition of India.
The programme was organised to remember the tragic events associated with the Partition and to pay tribute to those who faced immense hardships during one of the most painful chapters in the history of the country.
Retired Railway Employee Honoured
As part of the programme, tributes were paid to those who faced hardships during the Partition and contributed to the nation through their service.
On the occasion, Mudit Mittal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Mysuru Division, felicitated K.S. Nagaraj, a retired railway employee, in recognition of his valuable service and contribution to the Railways.
The felicitation highlighted the significant role played by railway employees in serving the nation and the public over the years.
Rare Photographs Depicting the Partition Displayed
A major attraction of the programme was an exhibition of rare historical photographs related to the Partition of India.
The exhibition featured photographs depicting the displacement, suffering, hardships, courage and determination of people who were affected by Partition. The images offered visitors a glimpse into the difficult circumstances faced by millions of people who were forced to leave their homes and communities.
The photographs not only recalled the painful chapter of India’s history but also reflected the courage and resilience with which people overcame immense hardships and rebuilt their lives.
The exhibition also highlighted how the country moved forward through unity, solidarity and a shared commitment to peace and harmony despite the deep wounds left by Partition.
Mudit Mittal Calls for Unity and Harmony
Speaking on the occasion, Mudit Mittal said that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is not merely a day to recall the events of the past, but also an occasion to reaffirm the commitment towards strengthening unity, peace, harmony and social cohesion.
He said that remembering the suffering, sacrifices and hardships endured during Partition should inspire present and future generations to learn from history.
He emphasised the need to prevent social divisions and differences from weakening the unity of society. He called upon everyone to understand their responsibility in building a peaceful, inclusive and harmonious society based on mutual respect and coexistence.
Mittal also stressed the importance of making younger generations aware of the country’s history and the courage, resilience and human values demonstrated by people during difficult times.
Railway Officials and Passengers Attend
Additional Divisional Railway Manager Shammass Hameed, railway officials, staff members and passengers were present at the programme.
The observance served as a reminder of the tragic consequences of Partition while conveying a strong message about the importance of preserving national unity, peace, communal harmony and social cohesion.
Through the remembrance programme and the historical photograph exhibition, the Mysuru Division sought to honour the memories of those affected by Partition and encourage future generations to learn from the past while working towards a more united and harmonious society.
