ಕರಾವಳಿ (Karnataka Coastal) ಭಾಗದ ರೈಲು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರ ಬಹುದಿನಗಳ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಕೊನೆಗೂ ತೆರೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ. ನೈಋತ್ಯ ರೈಲ್ವೆಯ (South Western Railway) ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಭಾಗವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ (Vande Bharat Train) ‘ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ಎಕ್ಸ್ಪ್ರೆಸ್’ ರೈಲಿನ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ.
ಸಕಲೇಶಪುರ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ರೋಡ್ (ನೆಟ್ಟಣ) ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸವಾಲಿನ ಘಾಟ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಸಂಚಾರ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಷಾಢ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯಂದು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ಸುಮಾರು 12 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ರೋಡ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಿಂದ ಕೇಸರಿ ಬಣ್ಣದ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲು ಘಾಟ್ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಮೊದಲ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾರ್ಥ ಸಂಚಾರ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿತು.
ಮರಳು ಚೀಲಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ
ಒಟ್ಟು 20 ಬೋಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರ ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಮರಳು ತುಂಬಿದ ಚೀಲಗಳನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾರ್ಥ ಸಂಚಾರ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಘಾಟ್ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಿಧ ವೇಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರೈಲನ್ನು ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ ಓಡಿಸಿ, ಯಾವ ವೇಗದಲ್ಲಿ ರೈಲು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸಬಹುದು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲೂ ರೈಲಿನ ವೇಗವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿ, ಕಡಿದಾದ ಇಳಿಜಾರು ಹಾಗೂ ತಿರುವುಗಳಿರುವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ರೈಲಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಷಮತೆ, ಬ್ರೇಕಿಂಗ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸುರಕ್ಷತಾ ಮಾನದಂಡಗಳನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಬಹುದಿನಗಳ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದನೆ
ಮಂಗಳೂರು-ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಡುವೆ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲು ಸೇವೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಭಾಗದ ಜನರ ಬಹುದಿನಗಳ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿರುವುದು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತಸ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ.
ರೈಲ್ವೆ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಚಿವ ವಿ. ಸೋಮಣ್ಣ ಅವರು ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲು ಸೇವೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವ ಕುರಿತು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಇದೀಗ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಸಂಚಾರ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿರುವುದು ಸೇವೆ ಆರಂಭದತ್ತ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ಘಾಟ್ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಕ್ಷತಾ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ
ಸಕಲೇಶಪುರ-ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ರೋಡ್ ನಡುವಿನ ಘಾಟ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಇಳಿಜಾರು ಇರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ರೈಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕರ್ ಇಂಜಿನ್ಗಳ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಯಂಚಾಲಿತ ವೇಗ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ನೆರವಾಗುವ ಆಟೋಮ್ಯಾಟಿಕ್ ಎಮರ್ಜೆನ್ಸಿ ಬ್ರೇಕಿಂಗ್ (AEB) ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಸುರಕ್ಷತಾ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳಿವೆ.

ಚೆನ್ನೈನ ಇಂಟೆಗ್ರಲ್ ಕೋಚ್ ಫ್ಯಾಕ್ಟರಿ (ICF)ಯಿಂದ 20 ಕೋಚ್ಗಳ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೇಕ್ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇದೀಗ ಘಾಟ್ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾರ್ಥ ಸಂಚಾರ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷತಾ ವಿಭಾಗದಿಂದ ಹಲವು ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ
ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲು ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಕಲೇಶಪುರದಿಂದ ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ರೋಡ್ವರೆಗಿನ ರೈಲು ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಸಿದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷತಾ ವಿಭಾಗ ಹಲವು ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದೆ. ಬೋಗಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಳು ತುಂಬಿದ ಚೀಲಗಳನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿ ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ ರೈಲನ್ನು ಓಡಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ರೈಲಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಷಮತೆಯನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಈ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೀಗ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ರೈಲಿನ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಷಾಢ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯ ಶುಭದಿನದಂದು ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡ ಈ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾರ್ಥ ಸಂಚಾರವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಮಂಗಳೂರು ನಡುವಿನ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಹೊಸ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ.
Vande Bharat Train Trial Run Begins on Bengaluru-Mangaluru Route
Mangaluru: The long wait of railway passengers in the coastal region has finally come to an end, with the South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division commencing the trial run of the Vande Bharat Express on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route.
The trial run began on the challenging Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road (Nettana) ghat section. At around 12 noon on Tuesday, the saffron-coloured Vande Bharat train began its first trial journey from Subrahmanya Road railway station through the ghat section.
Sandbags Used Instead of Passengers
The 20-coach Vande Bharat train is being operated with sandbags placed inside the coaches instead of passengers as part of the safety and performance tests.
The train will be operated several times at different speeds on the ghat section to determine the safest and most suitable operating speed. Each trial will involve gradually increasing the speed while monitoring the train’s performance, braking system and overall safety.
Major Step Towards Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Service
The commencement of the trial run has brought cheers among railway passengers in coastal Karnataka, who have been demanding a Vande Bharat service between Mangaluru and Bengaluru for a long time.
Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna had earlier indicated that a Vande Bharat service would be introduced on the route. The commencement of the trial run is now being seen as a major step towards the launch of regular services.
Safety Tests on Challenging Ghat Section
The Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road section is known for its steep gradients and challenging terrain. Conventional trains operating on the route require banker locomotives in certain sections.
The 20-coach Vande Bharat rake, equipped with modern safety features including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology, has arrived from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai and has now begun testing on the ghat section.
Railway Safety Division Conducts Extensive Tests
The Railway Safety Division had conducted several tests to assess the readiness of the railway track between Subrahmanya Road and Sakleshpur for Vande Bharat operations.
Sand-filled bags were loaded into the coaches and the train was operated multiple times along the route to assess the track, train performance and safety parameters. Following the successful completion of these tests, the railway authorities gave the go-ahead for the Vande Bharat trial run.
The commencement of the trial run on the auspicious occasion of Ashada Amavasya has raised hopes among passengers that regular Vande Bharat services between Bengaluru and Mangaluru could soon become a reality.
